Preseason All-Conference: Siouxland
Player of the Year: 2018 Tyus Arends, Sioux Center
In a league that is loaded with returning talent and excellent teams, Arends is the leading returning scorer in the conference and leads a Sioux Center team that will contend with many teams for the crown.
First Team
2018 Tyus Arends, Sioux Center (18.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 81 3PM)
The leading returning scorer in the league, Arends also knocked down 17 more 3s than any other returnee. His 81 made 3s last season ranked seventh in the state and is third among returning players.
2018 Micah Meyer, West Lyon (14.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 56.4 FG%)
A 6-3 wing, Meyer led the Wildcats in rebounding and blocks last year while finishing second in scoring. With Isaac Heyer graduated, Meyer has an outside shot at leading the conference in scoring.
2018 Kyle Boerhave, Sheldon (14.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 60.1 FG%)
The 6-6 combo forward might be the biggest matchup problem in the conference this season with his ability to dominate the paint, score efficiently and knock down 12-15 footers to boot. He’ll be the leader of a Sheldon team that has a legitimate chance at winning a state title.
2018 Jaden Kleinhesslink, Sheldon (13.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists)
The second leading returning scorer for the Orabs, he led the team in assists and steals last season. The floor general is a two-way presence for one of the Siouxland’s, and 2A’s, best teams.
2018 Trenton De Haan, MOC-Floyd Valley (17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 54.5 FG%, 85.1 FT%)
A nightly double-double threat, De Haan is the leader for an MOC-FV team that had an uncharacteristically poor season last year and will be looking to rebound. A capable scorer inside and out, he could lead the conference in scoring and rebounding this year.
