On The Radar: 2018 Point Guards
Over the last few days, we have been putting out our Top 10 lists of some of the best players for different categories. Obviously, there are more beyond the Top 10 and we want to highlight those players as well. Today, we are looking at five point gaurds that are on our radar but need more attention.
Brigham Booe – 6’0 | PG | Northview (IN) | DistinXion CHAMPIONS Red 2018
Booe is a big, strong guard that has proven he can handle most anything. Not many recruit the Terre Haute area and if they did, Booe would have been a name you have known since a while ago. He’s a multisport athlete with baseball. Has really been able to pick up his scoring ability this year building off of his jumper. He has toughness by the ton and the frame to let him play the way he wants.
Jamil Turner-Hall – 6’2 | PG | Fishers (IN) | Indiana Faith 2018
Playing for a smaller AAU team, Turner-Hall proved this past high school season that he should be getting more notice. He’s done really well using his perimeter quickness and driving ability to rack up points. He’s a guy that isn’t a huge guard but the size is good and the strength is there to envision him playing a tougher level of athlete.
Nick Bowman – 6’0 | PG | Hamilton Southeastern (IN) | GP Premier 2018-Devoe
Bowman is another in the long line of HSE guards that comes to fruition during the summer before their high school season. Last year it was Jack Davidson and Connor Rotterman. Bowman, though, has more athleticism and quite a bit of upside. He’s a tough guard that can do a lot on offense but he’s really been impressing people this spring with his ability to leap and dunk.
Nick Walker – 6’2 | CG | Henryville (IN)
Walker was a guy that we had heard about last year but hadn’t seen until this winter. He’s not an AAU guy but he’s really impressive. Big, tall guard who can create and score with the best of them. Good rebounder and tough enough to fight for it. If he was more visible, this wouldn’t have to be a sell. All small school programs in the Midwest should take a look at him.
Trey Davis – 6’0 | PG | Plainfield (IN) | Northside Spartans 2018
We like guards who show toughness and Davis is one of them. Not going to blow you away with his size as he’s 6’0 and skinny but he will challenge you at every play and he can really shoot the ball. Handles are solid and when he uses his toughness, you can’t turn him over easily. He’s likely a PG with enough offense to keep you interested.
