Prospect Spotlight: Kejuan Clements – (2019)
PG – Kejuan Clements 6’1’’ (2019) – Simeon
Kejuan Clements is a 6’1’’ PG for Chicago powerhouse Simeon. The lead guard is primed to take over at the point guard with the graduation of standout Evan Gilyard who heads to UTEP to play for the Miners. This summer is a critical one in his development as he goes from underclassman to upperclassman for the Wolverines. Kejuan is off to a hot start this spring running with the Mac Irvin Fire 16U EYBL. Kejuan is a strong guard at 6’1’’ and can handle the ball well. He is a straight-line driver and can really get to the hole of off the dribble. He finishes at an excellent rate around the basket and can really make some tough baskets in traffic. Clements has also improved his ability to create for his teammates and showed he can distribute the ball well. When he locks in Clements can be a solid defender. Some areas of opportunity as he takes the next step in his development is to become more consistent with his outside shot. He is a scorer and can knock shots down from the perimeter but can be inconsistent. A lot of upside in his game and this summer could be a big one for him. I caught up with Kejuan to talk Simeon, Grassroots ball and recruitment.
How was the high school season for you this past season at Simeon?
“High school season was great, probably my best high school season in two years in HS. We started off 17-0 and got to comfortable with that and ended up losing four games. We went down state for the second consecutive year and made it to the Championship game this year but just couldn’t pull it out.”
Running with the Fire again this year you had a big performance here in Indianapolis against the Arkansas Wings Elite, hit some big threes’ down the stretch and was able to get to the basket for some scores. How’s the season been so far?
“We started off the season a little slow this year but we came out today and handled business and could have won by more but a win is a win.”
What are some areas of your game you want to focus on and show college coaches?
“That I can really defend and rebound, I am not really worried about the offensive part.”
Recruitment, anything going on in that area, colleges reaching out?
“DePaul, Illinois & Michigan and I have a UIC offer.”
