Prep Hoops All DMV, I-495 All Star team, (Washington, DC Suburban) 1st team
The Washington, DC, DMV have the highest rate of D1 players produced in the nation per capita. We are awarding the top players in the Washington, DC DMV I-495 Region, with 5 ten player All Star teams. However, for the 1st team we included 11 players. The Capital Beltway or I-495, is a 64 mile interstate highway that surrounds Washington, DC. We will compose our All Star teams of those players that attend high schools in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia areas within the I-495 region. As with all of our players who have committed to college we will be following them throughout their college careers and wish them success on and off the court.
CO Player of the year:
Chris Lykes, 5’8″, PG, Gonzaga HS, Washington, DC, 2017.
Chris is one of the most dynamic PGs in the nation and he will attend the University of Miami next fall. HE helped lead Gonzaga to a 32-5 record and #1 ranking in the DMV and a consensus top 20 team nationally. Chris averaged 18.6 points per game and 4.6 assists
Co Player of the Year:
Luka Garza, 6’11”, C/PF, Maret HS, Washington, DC.
Luka is headed to the University of Iowa after complementing a great career at Maret HS. His Green Frogs finished the year at 26-5 and Luka averaged 24.5 points and over 10 rebounds per game.
Aaron Thompson, 6’3″, PG, Paul VI HS, Farifax, VA, 2017.
Aaron averaged 11 points and 5 assists per game for Paul VI (29-8) this past year. Aaron will play next season in the Big East at Butler.
Deion Hammond, 6’3.5, WG, Riverdale Baptist HS, 2017.
Deion is one of the best kept secrets in the DMV. The explosive WG will play next year at Monmouth who is getting a steal.
Nate Watson, 6’8″, PF, Bishop O’Connell HS, Arlington, VA, 2017.
Nate has developed into a fantastic PF/C and will play next season at Providence. He averaged 13.4 points and 6.8 rebounds last season for Bishop O’Connell.
Jeramine Harris, 6’8″, PF, Rock Creek Christian HS, Upper Marlboro, MD, 2018.
Jermaine is on the brink of becoming a national recruit and last season he averaged 13.7 ppg and had many double figure rebounding games for RCA who finished the season at 28-4.
Jalen Gibbs, 6’3.5, CG, North Point HS, Waldorf, MD, 2017.
Jalen averaged over 28 ppg for North Point HS and scored in double figures in every game which included a season high 40 points. The talented CG will play next season at Drake University.
Kiyon Boyd, 6’5″, WG, HD Woodson HS, Washington, DC, 2018.
Kiyon is a consensus top 50 recruit and he is a powerful WG who averaged over 26 points per game for HD Woodson this year.
DJ Harvey, 6’6.5″, WG/WF, DeMatha HS, Hyattsville, MD, 2017.
DJ is another consensus top 50 recruit in the DMV and the explosive wing will play next year for Notre Dame. Mike Brey who is the Head Coach for the Fighting Irish is a DeMatha alum. DJ averaged ppg this past season.
Dom Fragala, 6’0″, PG, Champe HS, Aldie, VA, 2017.
Dom averaged an astonishing 37 ppg this past year and he is also a very good defender.
Prentiss Hubb, 6’3.5″, PG/CG, Gonzaga HS, Washington, DC, 2018.
Prentiss is a top 40 national recruit and a dynamic guard who is making the transition from a CG to a full time PG this spring and summer. He has offers from numerous D1 schools but Prentiss has trimmed his list to Maryland, Villanova, Virginia & Notre Dame
Special Mention
Jelani Williams, 6’5″, CG, Sidwell Friends HS, Washington, DC 2017.
Jelani suffered a season ending knee injury in December, but the talented CG & University of Pennsylvania commit is on his way for a full recovery. In our opinion Jelani was a 1st Team All DMV I-495 candidate in December & based on his performance last season.
