Prospect Spotlight: Brendan Maclachlan (2019)
Still growing in size and smarts, 2019 forward Brendan Maclachlan is coming up.
At 6’4″, 185 lbs., the rising junior is in the process of taking the next step. He has a nice outside shot and can attack with his length.
He’s fresh off a sophomore campaign where he averaged 12.5 points per game. Maclachlan called his season a productive one. He currently ranks No. 67 in our latest 2019 class rankings.
“As a starting sophomore, I was the second leading scorer on the team behind Tyler White,” Maclachlan told Prep Hoops Florida. “I was awarded player of the game awards six times. I was recognized by my coach at the end of the season being named as MVP of the team. What I learned most at Durant would be being a leader on and off the court.”
Maclachlan is spending this summer training and conditioning and playing for the Tampa BayHawks.
“It’s a great organization to be with and they care about our future and goals in life,” he said.
“That’s why we are playing in the Powerade Platform. It’s great competition to play against high-level teams.”
Getting a late start to basketball at the age of 12, he’s quickly developed a nice repertoire of skills for the game. Maclachlan pointed to his IQ, skill and ability to make plays as his biggest strengths. He’s looking to improve his defense, even more, this season.
Durant will look very different with leading scorer Tyler White graduating. Maclachlan will take over the reigns alongside White’s younger brother Jeffery and rising senior Darrius Dejesus. Maclachlan looks the part and with more seasoning this summer, he’ll be ready to break out in the fall. He’s a 2019 wing to monitor.
