Jeremiah Tilmon Asks for Release
Major news on Wednesday afternoon as the state’s top 2017 prospect Jeremiah Tilmon has asked to be released from his national letter of intent with Illinois after the head coach he committed to John Groce was let go. He posted the following on his Istagram.
“Thank you University of Illinois athletics for understanding my position as a future student athlete that signed to play for Coach Groce but has requested release from NLI since coaching changes. My family and I feel it’s not only fair that we hear all opportunities and not be stuck in one situation. We will wait patiently on the release from the NLI. Illinois will always remain an option because of my ongoing relationship with Coach Walker but this is my future and I need to be certain before I come to campus in June.”
Tilmon has met with his lead recruiter Jamall Walker and new Illini head coach Brad Underwood since the change. Everything seemed fine even up until this morning. Schools we would expect to get involved with the center include Missouri, SLU, and Kansas.
