Part 1, 2017 Capital Classic Rosters Announced
This year’s Capital Classic features a loaded United States All Stars team and an excellent Capital All Stars squad. The game will will be played on April 8, 2017 at 1pm at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. In addition to the 1pm showcase game, a preliminary game will be held at 11am between two Washington, DC area All Star teams: The Suburban All Stars and the District All Stars which will be covered in Part 2.
The Capital Classic began in 1974 and featured such great players over the years such as Moses Malone, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Klay Thompson, Jason Kidd, Magic Johnson, Grant Hill, Patrick Ewing, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Ralph Sampson, and Dominique Wilkins. The United Sates All Stars leads the series, 25-15.
Prep Hoops is very familiar with the fantastic United States Roster and all the players have signed with major colleges. The Capital Roster has 4 excellent unsigned players who we will focus on and after the game write an updated Recruiting Report for each player.
1. Michael Speight led Wise HS to a 21-1 record and the Pumas finished the year ranked #2 in The Washington, DC, DMV final rankings by the Washington Post. Michael averaged 18.7 points this past season and he is excellent at scoring in the paint off the dribble, in the mid range and posses an excellent pull up jumper. He is excellent at finding open teammates and a very tough defender. Currently Michael holds offers from Canisius, High Point, James Madison, Towson, Mount St. Mary’s and Radford.
2. Kaleaf Tate is a very talented 2 guard from Cesar Chavez High School in Washington, DC who is an excellent scorer. He excels in transition and gets to the rim with crafty moves.
3. Brandon Simpson led Seneca Valley HS to the Maryland State 4A semifinals. He is 6’5″ a multi dimensional player who can play multiple positions. and we have anew Recruiting Report for Brandon written by Prep Hoops Writer Adam Ayalew.
4. Dominic Doyle is a 6’3″ shooting guard sniper from St. Andrews High School which plays in the tough Mid Atlantic Basketball Conference.
