Prep Hoops Colorado Fan Vote Player of the Year: Jervay Green
Jervay Green had a breakout season as a junior at George Washington as a junior, earning Denver Public League Player of the Year honors.
As a senior, Green went a step further, earning distinction as a Prep Hoops Colorado First Team All-State selection while also being selected as our first Fan Vote Player of the Year.
Green, the 6-foot-4 guard who helped lead the Patriots to the 5A state championship game this season, received 38 percent of the votes at 2,038 votes. Colbey Ross of state champion Eaglecrest (950 votes) finished second in the voting and Braxton Bertolette of Fossil Ridge (734) votes finished third.
Green averaged 19.7 points, four assists and 3.8 rebounds per game while leading the Patriots to a 25-3 record and a DPL championship. He scored 64 points — the most of any player in Colorado this season — in a win over Denver West on Feb. 10. Green was also a force on defense, averaging 3.2 steals per game and anchoring George Washington’s aggressive perimeter attack.
Green will begin his college career in the fall at Western Nebraska Community College. If this past season of growth was any indication, Green will be Division-I bound in the near future.
Please help us in congratulating Jervay on this award.
We will announce our staff selection for the 2017 Prep Hoops Colorado Player of the Year on Saturday!
