Who Was PrepHoopsIllinois Player of Week?
What a week of hoops across the state of Illinois! With regionals and sectionals in every area of the state there were tons of great performances, but here are your five nominees for the PrepHoopsIllinois Player of the Week! Make sure you vote for your favorite through Wednesday night!
EJ Liddell (Belleville West)
The state’s top sophomore power forward was dominant last week! He came up huge going for 43 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocks against Belleville East. Followed that up on Friday with a 34 point performance against the #1 senior in the state in a win over East St. Louis.
Noah Frederking (Okawville)
In the sectional championship and final game on his home floor the Evansville commit went off! He had 40 points to send his team to the supersectional.
Maurice Commander (Marist)
The junior point guard for Marist has had a quality season throughout, but saved one big time performance for the regional final. Commander dropped 32 points (12-15 FG) in a win Friday night over TF North.
Alonzo Verge (Thornton)
The senior electric lead guard was sensational against Bloom. Verge went for 43 points, 11 rebounds, 6 dimes, and 5 steals to win a regional title.
Carson Newsome (Waukegan)
Waukegan game up with a big win over Stevenson to advance in the playoffs. Newsome who is headed to UW-Milwaukee led the way with 33 points willing his team to the win.
