Recruiting Report: Jimel London (2018)
East Ascension’s 5-foot-10 point guard Jimel London is enjoying a junior season with one of the state’s best teams, and looking forward to a big spring and summer ahead.
Now in his third season as the Spartans’ starting point guard, London says his shooting has been something he’s been actively trying to improve this season.
“I’ve been working on my shooting a lot, and my scoring ability,” said London. “I feel like my ball-handling is there, and my defensive ability, I just need to work on my shooting.”
Louisiana’s 16th-ranked 2018, London played with Elfrid Payton Elite last season, but he says they won’t have a 17U squad this season.
London says he might play with Louisiana Elite this summer instead. And this offseason will be very telling as to where the junior floor-general could play at the next level.
“I haven’t picked up any offers yet, but Southeastern talked to me for basketball, Rice talked to me for basketball, Northwestern State and Southern too. I have plenty of teams talking to me and sending me letters and stuff,” said London.
“I’d say probably Southeastern talks to me the most.”
In the meantime, he’s spearheading one of the state’s best teams, and has state title aspirations on his mind.
“I’ve just been leading my team as a point guard,” said London. “I haven’t really been scoring too much, but just leading the team.”
As far as his summer goals are concerned….
“This summer I’m just looking to get better,” he said. “And to get some offers.”
