Potential Spring Stock Risers: 2019 Wings
In our series “Potential Stock Risers” we look at a group of prospects at each position in various classes and give insight to some of the players that could breakout this spring and see their recruitment take a major step forward. Here is our Potential Spring Stock Risers: 2019 Wings.
SF Terrence Hargrove (East St. Louis)
Overall Rank: #4
Position Rank: #1
Hargrove went from unranked to the #4 overall player in the class with a monster sophomore campaign. The athletic wing is a beast rebounder, defender, and has shown improvement in his scoring ability. If he plays on a grassroots team at the highest level we would expect Hargrove to come out of the spring with a handful of D1 offers.
SF Bryant Brown (Waukegan)
Overall Rank: #6
Position Rank: #2
Brown flashed what he could do last spring and summer on the circuit. He continued that improvement this high school season. At 6’5” he has long arms and the versatility to play both on the wing and inside. Quickness and athleticism are his calling cards and the skill is showing improvement. He has high-major potential. Expect a few D1 offers by the end of the spring for this top 10 sophomore.
SG Myles Baker (Whitney Young)
Overall Rank: #8
Position Rank: #2
Baker came on strong late in the high school season for the Dolphins. We really like his ability to score. When going against players his own age he shows he can score at all three levels getting his shot with ease. Without question a D1 recruit that should land a few offers in the upcoming months.
SG Donovan Moore (Hillsboro)
Overall Rank: #15
Position Rank: #3
Moore is going to be one of the prospects that blows up this spring. Not many people know about this combo guard, but that will change in April! He was dominant at both the PrepHoops and NY2LA camps in the fall. At 6’2” the lefty can play and defend either guard spot. Gets where he wants on the floor with his handles and has an outstanding feel for the game. D1’s will be monitoring him very soon!
SG Anthony Fairlee (Springfield Southeast)
Overall Rank: #16
Position Rank: #4
Fairlee is a freak athlete! That will standout to college coaches checking out the Illinois Irish immediately. The 6’3” shooting guard puts on an aerial show in the transition game. Explosive slasher that also gets after it on the defensive end. D1 programs will be intrigued by the raw physical tools. How much his stock rises depends on how far the skill set comes along.
SF Jeremiah Hernandez (St. Viator)
Overall Rank: #19
Position Rank: #5
Hernandez is coming off a strong sophomore campaign where he was the go to scorer for a St. Viator team that underachieved. He is a smooth wing that can shoot it from mid-range and handles well in traffic. Good size and projectability along with his perimeter feel will intrigue D1 programs.
SF Jeremiah Oden (St. Rita)
Overall Rank: #26
Position Rank: #9
Oden might be the most intriguing boom or bust guy on this list. We could not have been more impressed with what this 6’6” small forward brought to the table last fall. He has size, athleticism, and the upside that make him a potential D1 recruit. For whatever reason he didn’t hardly play at all on the varsity level for St. Rita.
SG Marquis Kennedy (Crete Monee)
Overall Rank: #28
Position Rank: #7
Kennedy came on our radar over the holidays. He is a combo guard that gets after it on both ends of the floor. Defends both backcourt positions and can really score it in one on one situations. If he finds the right fit on the circuit he should shine.
SG Malcolm Miller (Shelbyville)
Overall Rank: #37
Position Rank: #11
Miller put up quality numbers at Shelbyville as a sophomore. He has size for position and is mostly known as a shooter. From what we have heard he has developed more of his game this high school season. He should fit in nicely on an extremely talented Illinois Irish 16U squad.
SG Mitch Mascari (Geneva)
Overall Rank: #38
Position Rank: #12
Mascari opened our eyes with his scoring ability last summer. He played a role on one of the biggest surprise teams of the high school season at Geneva. Now we will see if he can continue that momentum.
SF Keeshawn Chambers (Solorio)
Overall Rank: #56
Position Rank: #12
Chambers is a long and lanky 6’5” forward with big time athleticism. Has the potential to be an impact player on both ends of the floor. Another kid who impressed in the fall that we are looking forward to seeing if he can duplicate it in the spring.
