PrepHoopsIllinois 3rd Team All-State
PrepHoopsIllinois is unveiling our All-State Teams for the 2016-2017 season. These are based on play during the regular season. Here is PrepHoopsIllinois 3rd Team All-State!
PG Teyvion Kirk (Joliet West)
Kirk opened the season on FIRE for Joliet West. The rangy point guard was dominant in several early season games in December including a monster performance at the Chicago Elite Classic. That game gave himself and their team confidence and momentum heading into the rest of the season. Kirk decommitted from Drake on Christmas day and has been one of the most talked about uncommitted players in the state since. Smooth point guard that can get to the basket, hit an occasional jumper, and gets after it on the defensive end.
SG Elijah Joiner (Curie)
Curie is led by a trio of seniors, but none has been more important to their success than Joiner. The Tulsa commit has played both on and off the ball as a senior where he has been effective at each. Joiner can connect from deep on threes as well as attack the cup. His standout moment came early in the year where he took on the top two 2017 prospects in the state and came out of both games with the win.
SG Demarius Jacobs (Uplift)
Jacobs was a prospect that has steadily seen his stock rise over the last two years. He was coming off a strong summer on the grassroots circuit and took that momentum into his senior year. He scored at all three levels with ease. Getting to the rack and finishing with monster dunks. Every game he would block several shots and gets multiple steals that he took the other way.
PF Taylor Bruninga (Illini Bluffs)
Bruninga was solid in the summer with the Illinois Irish and then completely exploded as a senior! The 6’8” power forward had a week for ages opening the season averaging 35+ points and 15+ rebounds through his first five games. He has continued to play at a high level throughout the season posting monster numbers while the opposing defenses knew he was the guy that they have to take away. One of the biggest senior stock risers in the state.
C Cameron Krutwig (Jacobs)
Krutwig is the state’s #2 center in Illinois. He has a big body to go along with a high skill level. Outstanding passer that gets others involved when the double comes. As a senior he has posted huge numbers helping leading his team to a great record. Krutwig is committed to Loyola where he will be a great fit at the next level being able to score, pass, and rebound at a high rate.
