8th Edition of the Utah Player of the Week
We’re back for the 8th edition of Player of the Week in the state of Utah. Region play is over for some and coming to a close for others and we had impressive performances last week. Here are our candidates for player of the week for February 13th through February 18th. Voting is located at the bottom.
Brooks Marshall 6’1 SR Guard (Cyprus) saved his best week of the year for last. In two wins for Cyprus Brooks averaged 15 points per game and help lead his team to their first two wins in region. Brooks is a tough player who plays solid defense and was able to shoot the ball well this week.
Saxton Morby 6’0 SR Guard (Fremont) had a typical week for his standards. He averaged 18.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists in two huge region wins including a win over rival Weber High School. Morby has been fantastic all year long and in my book has been as good as any guard in the state of Utah.
Jaxon Brenchley 6’5 SR Guard (Ridgline) the University of Utah signee saved his team’s season with his 30 point performance in a comeback win over Hurricane in the opening round of the 3A state tournament. brenchley was nearly impossible to stop and he will need to continue this kind of play if he wants to bring home a 3A championship to Cache Valley.
Kaden Elzy 6’0 SR Guard (Dixie) had one of his best performances of the year in a 55-53 down to the wire win over Logan in the opening round of the 3A state tournament. Elzy had 19 points including three 3 pointers. He has been a solid guard all season along and I think it’s time for him to increase his scoring average if his team is going to repeat as 3A state champs.
