He has a high IQ for a forward and is a playmaker with the ball in his hands. Can shoot it from mid-range and stretch out to three on occasion. Doesn’t do one thing great, but is a prospect that does everything well and will be an outstanding complimentary player at the D2 level.
Wallen chatted with us about his senior season with Champaign Central.
“It is going good. We have had some tough losses, but we are getting better and where we need to be. I am playing pretty good. With a lot of talent on this team I am distributing the ball. Rebounding and running the floor. Get points where I can.”
Where does he feel he improved the most this summer with the Illinois Irish on the circuit?
“I think my mid-range has gotten a lot better. I feel a lot more confident in my jump shot. Still need to get better at all aspects.”
He updated us on his recruitment.
“I currently have offers from Winona State and Clarke University. D3 Illinois Wesleyan is showing a lot of interest.”
Wallen spoke about his two offers.
“I haven’t taken visits to either of them yet. I am in the full swing of basketball season right now. I want to learn more about the universities. I want to get to both. One of my Irish teammates Devin Whitelow is committed to Winona State. He has told me quite a bit about it. He seems to really love it.”
What will be most important to him in a school?
“Probably the relationship between the players and the coach. You have to have that being away from home. You need someone to look up too and be able to talk too.”
