He’s got a talented group of upperclassmen — Kolby Molinsky, Dayton Ross, and Cooper Ross — to learn from the rest of this season, before he’ll take the reins for the Tigers the next three.
Vincent was shooting the ball lights out at our Top 250 Expo in September, and earned a spot on our 2020 “Watch List” because of it.
“Definitely shooting the ball is my main skill out there, and I can get after it on defense and I rebound well. I like to drive-and-kick and stuff like that too,” said Vincent.
“I definitely need to work on my ball-handling if I want to play guard, and I’ll need to get quicker if I want to keep up with some of those guys out there.”
Currently a reserve for the Tigers, Vincent has been very productive at the start of his high school career.
“I come off the bench right now and I get a lot of good minutes in. My role is basically to make shots and hit open shots, play excellent defense, rebounds and do all the little things,” said Vincent, who is averaging 7.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game this season.
“Definitely the first two games I had a little bit of nerves, and I didn’t score the first two games of the season. And against Bondurant-Farrar I really hit my stride and made a couple 3s, and then from then on I’ve been shooting pretty well.”
Vincent is just hoping to be as productive as he can this season, and help the senior class get to Wells Fargo Arena.
“I’m just looking to get better and get used to the varsity level. And I just want to help the team get to state because this senior class is special, and they haven’t been to state before,” said Vincent. “So doing the little things to help them out is what I’m looking to do.”
Just a freshman, Vincent hasn’t been recruited yet, but he did mention that he feels a bit under the radar up to this point of his career.
“I hope I get looked at a little bit, I feel like I’m a little bit underrated,” he said. “But I just need to keep working hard and playing with my buddies on (All Iowa) Attack who I’ve been playing with for awhile, that’s really going to help me.”
