The 5-foot-11 Carroll guard has already decided that he’s going to play football in college, (though he does not know where). And he says that’s thanks in part to his teammate Kolby Molinsky helping to make him look good on the gridiron.
“A lot of times in football, Kolby was the quarterback, and he made me look good,” said Ross. “So I think it’s my time to make him look good in basketball, and just get him the ball.”
Ross is also looking for his younger Brother, Cooper Ross, more this season too.
“Personally I plan on playing football in college, but I know Kolby and Cooper plan on playing basketball,” said Ross. “And my main goal is to get to Wells (Fargo) because I’ve never been there before, but another one of my goals is to get Kolby and Cooper recruited the best I can, and make them look good.”
Ross is certainly a standout on the hardwood, but he’s seeing more and higher-level interest come in for football.
“Football is definitely what I’m going to do,” he said. “I was recruited a lot more for football, so that’s how I made my decision. Morningside, Northwestern, Iowa Central and some Division II schools are in contact with me.”
Ross added: “I just plan on seeing what the best fit is and where I can get the most money, and that’s how I’ll make my decision with that.”
After a disappointing season last winter, the Tigers came into this season with lofty expectations. And that was predicated on better passing.
“This year I’m focused on getting bigger so I can get more rebounds, and I really worked on my passing so I could get Cooper and Kolby better shots,” said Ross.
“Last year I was more of the scorer sand I think our team wasn’t very good because we didn’t pass the ball very well. This year I decided to give up some of my points. I thought our team would have been a lot better if I passed it, so I’ve become the point guard and I kick it out a lot.”
“We kind of needed someone to that, so ya, my points are down, but my rebounds and assists will be up this year.”
