Five Performers….
- John Prochello dominated Beresford inside scoring 18 quickly before getting a seat in a Dakota Valley blowout win.
- Canton defeated Garretson 72-62 and Alex DeJong is another top performer after putting up a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds.
- Abiah Plastow scored 22 for Ethan in a buzzer beating victory.
- Jake Satter had 26 points and Tayton Maher made 13 of 13 foul shots on his way to 25 in a St. Thomas More win.
- Jarrett Jenson scored 36 points with 17 boards for Harding County beating Tospaye Topa.
Five Surprising Final Totals….
- The biggest differential was #1 Class B Chester Area beating Howard High 87-19. They were up 44-9 at the half. Austin Eppard had 24.
- Flandreau with a complete hammering of Elkton-Lake Benton 76-46. A bit more than expected.
- Sioux Falls Washington dropped game one of the year but it must of woke them up as they beat St. Thomas More and then crushed Roosevelt last night 67-33. Big night for Isaac Goeman.
- Corsica-Stickney went on the road and was victorious 83-37 at Avon.
- It Louis Peterson who made the game winner for the O’Gorman Knights late for a one point win. A new name to know.
Five Noteworthy…
- MVP coach Eric Denning recorded his 300th career win when the Titans beats West Central.
- Vermillion stayed undefeated with a ten point win over Lennox.
- Langford Area is near the top of the poll again and they start by giving Leola/Fredrick only 29 points.
- Thomas More had to fight off Douglass before gaining a 14 point win (81-67).
- AJ Pitzulweit had 23 points pushing Vermillion to a win over Lennox.
Still Rolling…
- Sturgis Brown hammered Belle Fourche by 25. They look for real more and more each game.
- Sisseton had a good year last year but haven’t heard much about them yet. Beat Milbank Area by seven so they still may be winning games this season.
- Matt Cartwright scored 20 points including making all of his foul shots.
- Chester Area is still rolling. They are the preseason number one and they look every bit like a number one.
- Rapid City Stevens pushed off the end of last year momentum and got that huge Washington win last Friday. Looking forward to see how they capitalize.
Close Calls/Upsets…
- SF O’Gorman’s first game was a nail-bitter. Brandon Valley gave them a scare at home before falling by a point.
- Derek Strom hit a game winner to give Ethan a two point win over Andes Central/Dakota Christian.
- In the close loss Drew Jurgens gave Brandon Valley 23 points and eight boards making 11 of 12 foul shots. He almost led Brandon Valley to the win.
