Five Performers….
- Goodnews Kpegeol went for 37 last night as North St. Paul scored 93 points in a 30 point win over White Bear Lake.
- Tre Jones had 27 points, seven boards, and five assists against CDH in a key win among top teams.
- Big Lake beat the Chargers by 24 last night and Austin Miller of Big Lake led with 26 making 10 of 15 shots. In defeat Trever Kaiser had 35 of his team’s 56.
- BSM beat Waconia by a score and young Jamison Battle scored a team high 18 as a sophomore playing a big role.
- Walt McGrory scored 30 for Edina who beat Shakopee by 30.
Five Surprises….
- Champlin Park beat Centennial 82-39. Expected a win but thought the Cougars could be a little closer than that.
- Park Center 81 Osseo 60. Nobody expected that. The Pirates are the number one team people expect to be very very good soon. But beating Osseo by 21 already is a surprise.
- Apple Valley beat Cretin-Derham hall 79-51 in what was expected to be the game of the night but didn’t really happened. Coaches from Butler, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota were there.
- Orono beat Minnetonka by 21 last night. Orono is very good. Tonka looked like they might take a jump after that North St. Paul win but that did not happen.
- Crosby-Ironton over Proctor 65-39. Though the Rails would be better than that.
Five Upsets…
- Coon Rapids is 3-0! Beating Elk River is an upset simply based on the past. The Cards have now beat Forest Lake, White Bear Lake, and Elk River.
- Woodbury was flying high after an overtime win over Chaska but the Irish and Loehrs put the state on notice that Rosemount is a team to deal with winning 73-64.
- Fridley over Mounds View on the road by nine points. The Tigers, better than expected!
- McGregor is expected to be improved and they beat Barnum by double digits.
- RTR beating TMB is only a small surprise, beating them by 32 points is something unexpected.
Five Noteworthy…
- Prairie Seeds Academy is legit in Class A. They recently beat Cooper and now took out an underrated Como Park team by a point.
- East Ridge defeated St. Louis Park 69-65 in a game of the night categorical contest.
- Good win for New Prague defeated Chanhassen 69-61 at home.
- Another top ten match-up was Lakeville North at Chaska and the Panthers grabbed a two point win and a serious battle.
- Hopkins hammered Lakeville South 86-42. What on earth has happened to the Cougars so far? This was to be the year they had big expectations for.
Five Rolling…
- Columbia Heights beats a Burnsville team that I feel is so close. The Hylanders won 71-66.
- Breckenridge had that Perham upset, now they beat Staples-Motley by 23, things are going well there.
- Big Lake now beats Dassel-Cokato by 24. Big Lake has been way better than expected.
- Goodhue making state last year wasn’t a one year thing. They hammered Rushford-Peterson on the road 56-33.
- Rochester JM beat Red Wing 96-49. So much for that being a close game and so much for the worry about JM not being that good. Calm down people, they were playing the best two teams in the state in those first games.
