Wesleyan Christian is undefeated so far this season and have big wins at Providence Day, the defending NCISAA state champs.
Wesleyan Christian is led by 6 foot eight forward Jaylyn Hoard, 6-foot four forward Aaron Wiggins, 6 foot six forward David Caraher and 6 foot four forward Shawn Walker.
Hoard has a handful of Division I offers. NBA scouts are raving about his length, smooth game, good shot from the perimeter and his size to defend. Scout.com lists Hoard as the number seven recruit in the country with the likes of Duke University, Arizona, Texas, Kansas and Texas Tech already expressing interest. Hoard is ranked as the number two prospect in PrepHoopsNC 2018 rankings behind UNC commit Coby White. Caraher has committed to Houston Baptist.
Wesleyan also has another high-major recruit with Aaron Wiggins.
For Christ School, the Greenies are led by Western Carolina commit Matt Halvorsen, 2018 forward Giir Ring, 2018 point guard Damon Harge Jr., freshman Justice Ajogbor, sophomore Wisdom Asaboro and do-it-all Wake Forest baseball commit Will Fleming. Christ School is 3-2 overall, so far this season.
Halvorsen set the school record for most three-pointers in a season last year with 111, breaking the school record
Matt Halvorsenby 11. He averaged 16.1 points and 4 assists per game while helping Christ School advance to the 2nd round of the NCISAA playoffs and a 23-9 overall record.
Harge has a silky smooth game, unbelievable ball-handling ability and a rainbow three-point shot that is deadly accurate, it’s easy to see why many consider Harge one of the top prospects in the 2018 class. Harge says,”The most important parts of my game involve being an aggressive defender, breaking down the defense, being able to score when needed, and making the other players better.”
This is one of the biggest games in WNC so far this season, I predict a Christ School win in a close game. The shooting of Matt Halvorsen along with the young big man Asaboro you should prove to be too much for the visiting Wesleyan Christian.
