And his options for both football and basketball extend to the Ivy League.
Army, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Kent State and Bowling Green have all offered the 6-foot-5 wing for hoops. And Ivy school Brown has said there’s a spot for him is he can be accepted academically.
“I’ve talked to Ivy League schools such as Columbia, Cornell, Colgate I talked to recently, and I went up to Princeton too. Everyone I’ve talked to is waiting to evaluate me the first couple games of the season,” said Bohannon, who discussed his football recruitment.
“I haven’t really decided yet which one I want to do (football or basketball). For football I have offers from Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Iowa State, and a couple Ivy League schools want me to play there.”
Bohannon also mentioned that academics is of the utmost priority for him, and will be a key deciding factor.
“As far as the deciding factor between the two sports, academics is key,” said Bohannon, who went on to profess his love for hoops.
“I’ve always had a love for basketball, and it always comes natural and I love it. Whereas with football it’s kind of like ‘oh, now I have to go into work today,”
Bohannon currently boasts a 26 on his ACT and a 4.15 GPA, he’s also been taking credits in an “Early College” program, and will have his associates degree by the time he graduates high school.
He’s hoping to make a college decision by early-January – it will either be football, basketball, or Ivy League.
“I hope to go far enough to where I can make a statement and show that I can will a team to a state championship, and maybe pick up a high-major offer,” said Bohannon. “And even if I don’t go high-major and go the Ivy route and focus on academics, I’d know for myself that I could have gone and played D1 basketball at a West Virginia or a Wisconsin or something like that.”
