Contenders
Bishop Canevin(25-4)
Canevin has a brand new coach, but he’s a legend in Tim McConnell, coming in from Char Val with an opportunity to take the reigns of one of the jobs with the most potential in the state. RJ Sledge RJ Sledge 5'11" | PG Imani Christian Academy | 2025 State PA transferred to Imani and star prospect Amari Evans returned to New York, but there’s still talent back, including Shea Champine Shea Champine 6'0" | CG Bishop Canevin | 2023 State PA and Adante Berrien. They may not be state title contenders this year, but McConnell is a coach that parents will flock to and Canevin shouldn’t miss a beat.
Aliquippa(19-9)
It’ll be a slow start, as always, as most basketball stars are bigtime football players. Dropping down from 3A after making a deep playoff run, they’ll be among the favorites in 2A. D.J. Walker and Cameron Lindsey Cameron Lindsey 6'1" | SF Aliquippa | 2024 State PA are among the top returners for a deep team.
In The Mix
Greensburg Central Catholic(19-5)
The Centurions made the WPIAL semis last season and have quite a bit of talent on the roster this year. They’ll be led by junior guard Tyree Turner Tyree Turner 6'1" | CG Greensburg Central Catholic | 2024 State PA , a physical guard with a mature mind for the game.
Fort Cherry(24-4)
The Rangers had a fantastic year, making a title game for the first time in 60 years. They bring back three starters and will be led by all-section guard Owen Norman, a 5’10” senior.
