Medina plays some of the most aesthetically pleasing basketball in the state and the Bees were buzzing in the first half against Saint Eds. Klanac plays with good pace with the ball in his hand and knocks down open shots. Klanac is a perfect fit in a fast-paced Medina offense as he knows when to make the extra pass and when to knock down an open shot. Division III schools should be looking at Klanac because he will understand how to fit in your offense immediately.
Scholarship programs should’ve offered Hornbeak yesterday but with his limited recruiting status so far, there’s still time for new programs to jump into his recruiting picture. Hornbeak is a stronger guard who can get where he needs to off the bounce and is finishing with either hand off one or two feet. Hornbeak also has improved as a shooter, knocking down jumpers off the catch or bounce. I’m extremely high on Hornbeak and hope he gets the attention he deserves from college programs, there are few players in NW Ohio who have a bigger impact on winning at the high school level.
Rose deserves a lot of credit for how he’s developed his game over the year, developing from a run and jump athlete into a skilled wing who still has that athletic pop. Rose was taking defenders off the bounce, playing with patience and knocking down jumpers. Watching Rose now and from a couple years ago and it’s easy to see that he’s put in the work to expand his game over the years. Rose is a small college prospect who should be targeted by Division II, III and NAIA programs.
Thompson was getting BUSY against Richmond Heights, using his impressive ball handling and self-creation abilities to keep his team in the game. Thompson was breaking down the Spartans defense off the bounce and created a lot of easy attempts at the rim. An efficient, high scoring effort, Thompson will look to replicate those types of numbers as the season goes on. Thompson is another prospect who should be looked at by scholarship programs but if he slips to the Division III level, he could be a stud.
One of the top shooters in Ohio’s 2025 class, Winters Jr has a skill that will translate to the next level and is highly sought after by college coaches. Winters was knocking down deep shots from behind the college line at times on Sunday and the night prior won MVP in their victory over Harvest Prep. I want to see Winters impact the game in more ways than he does right now, whether that’s improving his ability to attack closeouts, his ability to create for others or defensive impact, going from one elite skill to two would really elevate his game. Right now, Winters looks like a for sure scholarship level prospect, the question now will be if it’s at the Division I or Division II level.
