The Olympic Conference had a great 2021-22 season as it had two teams participate in the Tournament of Champions and has underrated prospects who can have a strong 2022-23. Here are the under the radar Olympic Conference prospects to watch this season.
Judah Hidalgo Judah Hidalgo 6'4" | PG Paul VI | 2025 State NJ , 6’4 PG Paul VI 2025
Hidalgo will get an expanded role in the Eagles’ offense this season, which will help his stock in a big way. The 6’4 guard has a good release on his jumper as he wastes little motion and sets his feet before he shoots. Hidalgo is more than just a shooter as he can also put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. He rarely makes bad decisions with the ball in his hands and moves his feet on the defensive end. Hidalgo will be one to watch in South Jersey with his ability to knock down perimeter jumpers and finish around the basket.
Dan Mason Dan Mason 6'9" | C Bishop Eustace | 2023 State NJ , 6’9 PF/C Bishop Eustace 2023
Mason will be the go-to guy down low for the Crusaders and will be one to watch for them all season. The 6’9 post knows how to get position down low and has a good touch around the basket. Mason sets good screens in the half court and moves well without the ball in his hands. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his length to influence shots around the basket. Mason is a tough post prospect whose ability to control the paint will help his game in a big way.
Tye Dorset Tye Dorset 6'3" | SG Lenape | 2024 State NJ , 6’3 SG Lenape 2024
Lenape needs someone to step up to replace the senior scoring from last season and Dorset looks to be the guy. The 6’3 guard has a good handle and a quick first step, which he uses to get by his defender and finish around the rim. Dorset plays with poise with the ball in his hands and rises up nicely on his jumper. He is a solid passer and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor. Dorset is a lanky two-way guard prospect who should make plays at both ends of the floor all season.
Luke Kennevan Luke Kennevan 6'4" | SG Camden Catholic | 2025 State NJ , 6’3 SG Camden Catholic 2025
Kennevan had a strong debut season for the Irish and should build upon it in 2022-23. The 6’3 guard has a nice shooting stroke and sets his feet before he shoots. Kennevan is more than just a shooter as he has an underrated handle and draws contact in the paint. He is a strong rebounder for a guard and is an underrated defender. Kennevan’s ability to stretch the floor and finish around the basket makes him a sophomore to watch in South Jersey.
Cairo Rivera, 6’3 SG Eastside 2023
Eastside lost a lot of production from last year’s Group 3 winning squad and Rivera will be looking to pick up the slack for the Tigers. The 6’3 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he is a strong finisher and is unafraid of drawing contact. Rivera knows how to get to his spot on the floor and is unafraid of taking big shots in key situations. He has the potential to run the offense in a pinch and moves his feet well on the defensive end. Rivera will be one to watch in the Olympic Conference as he looks to lead Eastside’s attack in 2022-23.
