Two state title contenders meet in a huge non-conference showdown.
Homestead is coming off a 24-3 season in 2021-22 and reloads behind junior guard Tim Franks Tim Franks 6'5" | SG Homestead | 2024 State WI (19.3 ppg). The Highlanders also return three of their top four scorers in Solomon Garrison Solomon Garrison 5'10" | PG Homestead | 2023 State WI (12.9 ppg) and Chris Djurasovic Chris Djurasovic 6'8" | PF Homestead | 2023 State WI (11.2 ppg).
Wisconsin Lutheran opened their season with an impressive win over Moline (IL), featuring a pair of Iowa commits. Senior Landon Key Landon Key 6'4" | SF Wisconsin Lutheran | 2023 State WI went off for 22 points, while senior Prentice Young Prentice Young 6'4" | CG Wisconsin Lutheran | 2023 State #273 Nation WI added 20 and star junior wing Kon II Knueppel Kon II Knueppel 6'6" | SG Wisconsin Lutheran | 2024 State #15 Nation WI scored 18.
Baldwin Woodville (0-0) at Rice Lake (1-0)
Rice Lake could be one of the most improved teams in the state. Coming off a 14-10 campaign, the Warriors return the Orr brothers, Tyler Orr Tyler Orr 5'10" | PG Rice Lake | 2023 State WI (33.0 ppg) and Zach Orr (20.0 ppg). In their opener, Rice Lake feated a solid Somerset program by 14.
Baldwin-Woodville was 21-6 a year ago and one game away from reaching the state tournament. Leading scorer and rebounder Eli Coenen (12.3 ppg, 8.2 ppg) is back for his senior season.
Kewaunee (1-0) at Brillion (0-0)
A potential sneaky upset here. Brillion is one of the favorites in Division 3, but they’ll get a stiff test in their opener from Kewaunee, who won the Packerland Conference last season and is coming off a 16-point win over Luxemberg-Casco in their opener.
Wofford commit Jeremy Lorenz Jeremy Lorenz 6'8" | PF Brillion | 2023 State WI is a trendy All-State pick after averaging 20 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists per game as a junior. The Lions have plenty of talent round him as well, including junior forward Grady Geiger Grady Geiger 6'6" | PF Brillion | 2024 State WI (10.9 ppg), Ripon commit Caeden Holly Caeden Holly 5'11" | PG Brillion | 2023 State WI (10.9 ppg), and senior guard Parker Braun (9.6 ppg).
