Ashton is a high level scorer across all three levels of the floor, has a great touch on his shot, and can calmly knocks down big time pressure free throws when necessary. He has all the tools to become a high level combo guard at the next level with his ability to create within the half court or the full court. He calmly makes the right decision with the basketball or manipulating his opponent with his eyes. I was very impressed with how many slick dump off passes or kick-outs he made after seemingly having all of his attention set on the rim. He is a dominant and explosive athlete who has the ability to leap and hang in the air allows him to adjust his shot angle on his way to the rim was incredibly impressive, contorting his body around defends to avoid contact for a plethora of crafty finishes.
Defensively, he is extremely active on ball and loves getting under his opponents skin with his intense pressure over all 92 feet of the court. He is great at using his strength and athleticism to bump his opponents off their angles when they attack the basket. His ability to calmly and subtly make his opponents change their direction just makes them that much more uncomfortable and ineffective against him. He also used his bounce to come over from the weak side and block some high level forwards in the paint as well.
Garwey Dual Garwey Dual 6'5" | PG Carmel | 2023 #113 Nation CA-S 2023 6’5 Southern California Academy (CA)
Garwey is a two way nightmare at the guard position, with the versatility on defense to truly defend 1-5 at a very high level. He leads Southern California Academy with his presence on the defensive side of the ball, calmly fighting down low and rebounding the ball at an incredibly high level. He led the team in rebounds, and his aggressiveness allowed him to fight on the interior and get easy second chance points through his hard work and aggression. His switch ability is already ready to dominate at Providence University next year.
I was very impressed with his athleticism and ability to get to the rim with his handle as well. He has the ability to suck the air out of the gym with how well he finishes at the rim, calmly taking his opponents off the bounce and then hammering dunks on their heads. He is a nightmare in transition, but his ball control and length allows him to be effective out of the triple threat and in the half court as well! I fully expect Dual to really make some noise during his time at Providence, and his willingness to do the little things will be a really coveted asset. He will allow his coaches to switch anything and throw him at positions 2 or 3 or small ball four if necessary…
Nasir Price 2026 6’2 Katy Seven Lakes High School (TX)
Nasir was fearless during his first official varsity game coming against the #2 team in the country (Arizona Compass Prep) calmly getting to his spots, playing impressive lock down defense and finishing through contact. Price’s performance against this team gave me absolutely no doubt that he will become a national name by the time it is all said and done. He was flat out dominant playing off the ball, cutting at the right time to catch the defense sleeping and keeping his hands and feet ready to catch and shoot to punish the defense for not immediately being in his grill. When his opponent did finally get up under him, he calmly took elite juniors and seniors off the bounce and got to the rim, finishing through contact against a 6’9 University of North Carolina commit…
Price has all the tools to become an effective combo guard at the next level with how he understands spacing and how he is able to read angles, and then slither through contact. He is playing next to one of the smartest guards in Houston (Anthony Bates) for the next two years, which will allow him to develop his skill as a two guard, and then take of the role as the one when it is his time to lead the team at Seven Lakes. Do not be surprised when you hear about this kids name, I know he really turned a lot of college coaches heads with his performance in just his first varsity game…
Vyctorius Miller 2024 6’5 Arizona Compass Prep (AZ)
Vyctorius is an incredibly dynamic combo guard prospect with the way he sees the floor, his shiftiness with a live dribble and his ability to calmly score it from all three levels, even after giving his opponents a series of vicious crossovers and behind the back. I was very impressed with how well he was able to manipulate his opponent and then either rise up or fire the perfect pass to manipulate the defense for stepping up on him. His unselfishness is a joy to watch, and it really helps spark his teammates to make the extra pass to set up a great shot, which at times is rare sight at some of the prep schools around the country in my opinion! He is great at setting up his teammates with passes on the fast break, calmly hitting them in stride allowing them to hammer home flashy dunks and dazzle the crowd.
Miller is an absolutely dominant weapon at his size at the point guard position, and it allows Arizona Compass to absolutely swallow up their opponents and switch nearly everything with his defensive prowess as well. He is strong down low, on both sides of the ball, and his aggressiveness allows him to be an effective defender on and off the ball. His blend of athleticism, ball control and awareness on the court will allow him to be an effective weapon, and at his size maybe even a shot further than just the collegiate level.
AJ Johnson AJ Johnson 6'5" | PG Taft | 2023 #26 Nation CA-S 2023 6’6 Southern California Academy (CA)
The University of Texas commit was showing off during his time on the court, calmly knifing through the defense and getting to the rim. He has all of the fancy finishes you can imagine in his bag, calmly flipping the ball past outstretched arms and into the basket. I loved his relentless pursuit of the rim, especially when his shot from the outside was not falling. He had difficult getting his shot off on the perimeter against some longer defenders, but still found a way to effect the game by playing the passing lanes and locking up defensively and getting to the basket whenever he wanted.
He is great at using the most of his gather steps to get a foot closer to the basket, calmly using up and unders to manipulate his defender before slithering his way to the rim. His shiftiness with a live dribble is incredibly special, and its really something you cannot teach when you see him make his way through ANY defense thrown at him. He really put on a show showing off his ability to do it all in front of some UT coaches, just before he announced his decision less than two weeks ago! This kid is one you have to keep tabs on, especially with the young talent that the University of Texas has right now as well, currently ranked #2 in the country!
