Prep Hoops Missouri continues its preseason previews with a look at the St. Louis Suburban Conference Yellow Division. Leading the way is Webster Groves, who won the Class 5 state championship last season. The Statesmen lead a group of solid teams that include Kirkwood, Marquette, Eureka and Hazelwood Central
THE STARTING FIVE
(Webster Groves): The versatile 6’5″ 2024 forward emerged as a force as he helped the Statesmen to the state championship. As a sophomore, he averaged 12.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and three assists a game while shooting 53 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3-point range.
(Hazelwood Central): A 6’2″ 2024 transfer from Whitfield who plays the game at high energy at all times. He averaged a team-high 12 points a game as a sophomore for the Warriors.
(Kirkwood): An athletic 6’2″ 2023 combo guard who can attack the basket and knock down 3-pointers. The Arkansas-Little Rock recruit averaged a team-high 12.4 points a game as a junior.
(Webster Groves): The 6’1″ 2023 point guard was the glue-guy to last year’s state championship team with his all-around play. As a junior, he averaged 8.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.6 steals while shooting 49 percent from the field.
(Kirkwood): A 6’4″ 2023 wing player who is an excellent two-way performer. He is a potent offensive player with smooth slashing drives and the ability to hit the 3-pointer.
