Cody Schmitz Cody Schmitz 6'4" | SG Gale Ettrick-Trempeleau | 2024 State WI — SF — Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau
Because he was able to tally up some huge numbers this past high school season, Schmitz was a prospect who I was excited to watch in the AAU evaluation period. And after watching him compete, I can confirm that Schmitz is legit. The small forward is a very talented scorer. He does a great job of using his size and skill to get buckets from all three levels.
Demarion Burch Demarion Burch 6'3" | SG Milwaukee Hamilton | 2023 State WI — G — Milwaukee Hamilton
There are already a handful of top college programs showing interest in Burch. And after the upcoming high school season, I predict that many more will be pursuing the guard. As a pure slasher, Burch is super fun to watch. He does an awesome job of using his size, strength, and skill to get to the rim and convert on layups.
Marcus Hall Marcus Hall 6'5" | SF D.C. Everest | 2023 State WI — SG — DC Everest
Hall is a prospect that I probably have slept on too much. But make no mistake: the DC Everest shooting guard is a certified-bucket getter. Standing at 6-foot-6, Hall owns excellent positional size. And he doesn’t put this size to waste. Around the rim, Hall does a terrific job of finishing around or through contact. Size, skill, strength, Hall checks off all of the boxes.
Michael McNabb Michael McNabb 6'4" | CG Grafton | 2024 State WI Jr. — SG — Grafton
McNabb was incredible this past AAU season. While playing for Chapman Basketball Academy, the shooting guard was able to solidify himself as one of the best players in Wisconsin, regardless of class. With the ball in his hands, McNabb is super crafty. As a slasher, the shooting guard has a very quick first step, which he uses to blow by his defender. Once he gets to the rim, McNabb does a tremendous job of converting layups.
Amari McCottry Amari McCottry 6'5" | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State #304 Nation WI — SF — St. Thomas More
There aren’t many high school prospects that possess the physical tools that McCottry does. The St. Thomas More small forward is athletic, quick, strong, and has the perfect basketball build. McCottry puts these tools to use very well. In the open court, McCottry is an excellent scorer. He uses his speed to blow by opposing defenders and get to the rim. As a defender, McCottry is also very good. When he locks in, the SF is difficult to score on.
Jaquan Johnson Jaquan Johnson 5'10" | PG Pius XI | 2024 State WI — PG — Pius XI
Even though he is probably a bit undersized for the point guard position, Johnson still deserves a spot on this list. As a scorer, Johnson is super fun to watch. He does an extremely good job of aggressively attacking the rim, regardless of the circumstance. Using his speed, the PG is very hard for opposing defenders to stay in front of.
Tyran Cook Tyran Cook 6'1" | SG Waukesha South | 2023 State WI — SG — Waukesha South
Cook has developed into one of my favorite prospects to watch in the entire state. The Waukesha South shooting guard just knows how to put the ball in the cup. He is a tremendous slasher who does an awesome job of using his rare combination of speed, athleticism, and skill to get downhill and finish at the cup. Look for Cook to produce some big-time scoring numbers this season.
