Also, an excellent Class 1A tournament tipped off at 10:00 down at Loogootee featuring the host Lions, Evansville Day, Liberty Christian, and Evansville Christian. Let’s dive on in to the five best matchups of the night.
Ben Davis (1-0) @ Zionsville (0-1)
These teams have had contrasting starts to their season. The Giants were dominant in a win over Fishers on Tuesday night asserting themselves as a real contender at the top of Class 4A alongside Cathedral. Meanwhile, Zionsville fell in a low-scoring affair against Carmel. 6’9″ Valparaiso signee Zane Doughty Zane Doughty 6'8" | C Ben Davis | 2023 State IN will have another battle down low in this one going against Charlotte signee Nick Richart Nick Richart 6'9" | PF Zionsville | 2023 State IN of Zionsville. Brownstown Central @ Providence
We don’t have to wait long to get an early preview of two Sectional 46 favorites. These also just might be the two best teams in a loaded Class 2A as well. Providence is the returning state champions while Brownstown Central moves down after winning a 3A sectional last year. Purdue commit Jack Benter Jack Benter 6'4" | SG Brownstown Central | 2024 State #121 Nation IN is the headliner here for the Braves while the Pioneers feature senior guard Casey Kaelin Casey Kaelin 6'2" | SG Providence | 2023 State IN , Quentin Hesse, and Noah Lovan Noah Lovan 6'3" | PG Providence | 2024 State IN . This is an excellent early season matchup between two teams with legitimate state championship aspirations.
Concordia Lutheran (1-0) @ NorthWood (1-0)
These two Class 3A programs are loaded with talent. Juniors Ajani Washington Ajani Washington 6'2" | SG New Haven | 2024 State IN and Cole Hayworth Cole Hayworth 6'5" | SF Concordia Lutheran | 2024 State IN led the Cadets to a season-opening victory over Leo. Recent Huntington commit Cade Brenner Cade Brenner 6'3" | SG NorthWood | 2023 State IN is the star for NorthWood, but the Panthers also feature senior Ian Raasch Ian Raasch 6'6" | PF NorthWood | 2023 State IN alongside his sophomore brother Tyler Raasch Tyler Raasch 6'8" | C NorthWood | 2025 State IN . This will serve as an early measuring stick for just how ready Concordia Lutheran is to keep against the best as they take on preseason #1 ranked NorthWood.
Kokomo @ Westfield
This will be a regional rematch from last season featuring Top 10 ranked Kokomo and a Westfield out to prove that they still belong in that conversation despite losing two Division I guards including the Indiana Mr. Basketball award winner. The obvious draw to this game will be the junior season debut of 6’9″ 5-star center Flory Bidunga Flory Bidunga 6'9" | C Kokomo | 2024 State #7 Nation IN for the Wildkats. However, senior forward Alex Romack Alex Romack 6'6" | PF Westfield | 2023 State IN is coming off of an outstanding summer and should take over the go-to role for the Rocks this year. This will be both teams first action this season as Kokomo had to move their season-opener due to the success of their football program.
Lawrence North @ Crispus Attucks
A handful of the states best sophomore will suit up in this one. Lawrence North features dynamic guard Azavier Robinson Azavier Robinson 6'1" | PG Lawrence North | 2025 State #88 Nation IN who is a Top 5 prospect in the Class of 2025 according to Prep Hoops Indiana. However, the Wildcats suffered a major blow when 6’10” Division I prospect David Meriwether David Meriwether 6'10" | C Lawrence North | 2023 UT was ruled ineligible for the season after transferring from Indianapolis Metropolitan. The absence of Meriwether should led to a big game for 6’8″ sophomore big man Dezmon Briscoe Dezmon Briscoe 6'9" | PF Crispus Attucks | 2025 State #107 Nation IN for Crispus Attucks. Briscoe also has the benefit of a talented backcourt featuring sophomore point guard Chris Hurt Chris Hurt 5'11" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2025 State IN and junior guard Ron Rutland III Ron Rutland III 6'1" | SG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN .
