Raúl Standford “Highland” Shooting Guard: Raúl Stanford was one of the most important pieces in Highland’s 4A State Championship run a season ago. He brought heart, spirit, shooting and defense to the Hornets last year. Raúl was the teams best three-point shooter a year ago making 35 three-pointers from behind the arc and shot a lights out 47% on the perimeter. He was an excellent defensive stopper and held his own guarding some of the best offensive players in New Mexico. In my opinion his best trait is his leadership and communication on the floor.
Ezra Guest Ezra Guest 6'0" | SG Los Lunas | 2023 State NM “Los Lunas” Shooting Guard: Ezra Guest Ezra Guest 6'0" | SG Los Lunas | 2023 State NM from Los Lunas High School is one of the states best Shooting Guards. He plays the game at a nice pace and is an efficient scorer of the basketball. Ezra can play on and off the ball which makes him a nice fit with teammate Jalin Holland Jalin Holland 6'5" | SG Los Lunas | 2025 State #85 Nation NM . He is more than capable of taking a game over by himself if he gets going in the zone. There is a reason why he will be playing at the next level next year in college.
Mason Howell Mason Howell 6'8" | C Sandia | 2025 State NM “Sandia” Center: The Sophomore big man Mason Howell Mason Howell 6'8" | C Sandia | 2025 State NM is going to make a nice impact for the Sandia Matadors this year. Their isn’t too many players at his size in New Mexico and he’s starting to put all of the pieces together. Mason will rebound the basketball and be a serious shot blocker around the rim. He runs the floor pretty well for a big man and can get easy scorers on fast breaks. He will be a nice X-Factor if Sandia wants to win the 5A State Championship.
Jordi Rojo “Belen” Point Guard: Last season, Jordi Rojo was the starting Point Guard on a contender that reached the 4A Boys State Semifinals. They had three seniors from last season graduate that played a huge role. After covering Jordi Rojo throughout some of the summer, I expect the Team Captain to make a statement this season. He’s an aggressive scoring first Point Guard that can hold his own on both sides of the floor. He thrives when he is being slept on and doubted, expect a big year from the Belen Star.
Estevan Devargas Estevan Devargas 5'9" | CG Del Norte | 2023 State NM “Del Norte” Guard: The Del Norte Knights will be a new-look team this season after losing several key players to graduation and through transfers. Estevan Devargas Estevan Devargas 5'9" | CG Del Norte | 2023 State NM has been a part of this varsity roster for the last three season and will make his fourth this year as a senior. He is a talented guard that can shoot the ball well and be a playmaker for others. Estevan will have a bigger role this season and will be a potential starter this season that will play in big moments this year.
