Making a Splash
The big anticipated start of this big fellas high school career went as we anticipated as he dominated with a big time 20+ performance. Springville can really build around him and make some noise out in deep Utah County. With one game under his belt Jamyn is set to continue to make adjustments as teams adjust to him. With him feeling more and more comfortable stepping out and shooting it is only a matter of time before
Jason Mandaquit Jr. was in his bag last night as this RSL Academy team played a solid LCA team that has a deep bench and plays a ton of players. JJ was defended the entire length of the court as LCA always tries to speed teams up and it kinda backfired a bit as it allowed JJ to have a big night as he poured in 30 points and it is easy to see why JJ is considered as one of the top PG’s in the country and why he is a team USA finalist. RSL Academy made some strides last night.
We slightly joke around stating that Chudi will drop 50 this year but at the same time anything is possible as Chudi opened up his season with a big win and a 36 point opening night. He did it against a well coached Judge Memorial team as well.
David is hands down the best two way player in the state. The way he can defend his own man and help his team when it matters is just elite. David had three impressive blocks and one was the most impressive because it was on a dunk attempt. David is shooting the ball better now too. This kid is tough as nails.
Team Notes
Layton Christian Academy
Layton Christian Academy is loaded with talent and they have a few names that we need to remember and a few names we need to get to know.
Tyrese Lacey Tyrese Lacey 5'10" | PG Layton Christian | 2023 State UT || PG
This kid is small but he is fast and he has a lot of energy with a crazy motor. Shoots the ball well too.
Souleymane Barro Souleymane Barro 6'7" | SF Layton Christian | 2023 State UT || F
Raw but worth the risk as he does posses a high reward type of game. If I were a NJCAA D1 I would be all over him.
Isaac Cubero || G ||
The Costa Rican native has a motor and a smooth feel for the game. He is relentless.
Otavio Armanni || W ||
The Class of 2024 6’5 stretch wing is a big time addition as LCA will need shooting in order to compete at the 4A level and Otavio the Brazilian native can make that happen.
