Jakeel is a flat out dominant guard who can play anywhere 1-3 at the next level. His versatility is an elite weapon already, much like his explosive athleticism. He hammers home emphatic dunks, floating towards the rim and hanging in the air if he needed to avoid a defender. In the full court he is an absolute monster, constantly attacking defenders on the break and forcing them to make a decision. An aspect of his game that really stood out to me was his aggressiveness slashing and attacking the basket, but more importantly going after offensive rebounds. I am always in awe of his body control and athleticism when I get to see him play, and it is not just evident when he has the ball in his hands. He is willing to do the dirty work, such as come over as a help defender as well as rebounding the ball on both ends. His consistency on the glass and his ability to finish tip ins allows him to get easy points in the paint. His ability to truly do it all on both ends of the floor is incredibly impressive, and his willingness to defend positions 1-4 will make him a valuable prospect over the next two years. Registe is a prospect you MUST keep your eye on as he continues to develop over the next two years. I am expecting a massive junior campaign next year and I cannot wait to see what kind of waves he will make.
Tristan Strength Tristan Strength 6'3" | CG Colleyville Heritage | 2024 State TX 2024 6’4 Colleyville Heritage High School
Tristan is a high level scorer and a willing defender, a perfect blend of the two at the shooting guard position. He specializes in spacing the floor and knocking down timely shots off the catch from all around the arc, but where he really makes his mark on the game is the energy he displays on the defensive end of the court. He willingly defends on the ball, moving his feet at a very high level and showing an ability to steer his opponents and angle them into help defenders. I was very impressed by his active hands, poking the ball free and allowing his team to run in transition. His ability to turn defense into offense is a real weapon for him and his team every time they step on the court. He has really developed his handle over the last yar, becoming a more confident threat to put the ball on the floor and simply go get a bucket when his team needs it.
Kayde Dotson Kayde Dotson 6'2" | PG Beaumont United | 2024 State #194 Nation TX 6’2 2024 Beaumont United High School
Kayde has always been an efficient scorer, but where I have seen the most development over the last two years has to be his confidence and the ability to be a focal point in his team’s offense. He is the clear second option, but plays his role well, moving without the ball and hitting timely threes when the ball is swung his way. He is ready for any moment now, confidently rising up when he has the space or taking you off the bounce if you are guarding him too close. He has a very quick and tight handle which allows him to get into the paint with ease. His ability to create space from his defender was very impressive, as he consistently got his spots beyond the arc and finished at the rim when given a glimmer of space. He has a capable defender with great size, moving his feet and keeping anyone he wants in front of him. His ability to do it all at the two guard spot is an elite weapon for his team, and expect him to really make some noise next year as he moves into being his team’s focal option.
Ojani Bowen 2024 6’2 TMI Episcopal (San Antonio)
Ojani is an intense defender at the guard spot who also has the ability to hit timely shots when his team needs them the most, but also run the offense if necessary. He showed all the ideal skills to become a combo guard at the next level, but where he will likely shine is at the two guard spot. He confidently moves without the ball, into space and always seems to be shifting his opponent even without the rock! Ojani works well at relocating after feeding his bigs in the post, and moving without the ball to take some of the attention of the defense away. He showed off deep NBA level range when given time to square up and really set his feet. He is a weapon as a catch and shoot player, which allows him to play well with other high level guards on the team. His defensive prowess is a real weapon, and he is unafraid to take on anyone in front of him. He showed an ability to defend bigger guards and wings in switching situations, taking away their space and getting in their grill. He is a scrappy defender who can shut down anyone on the other side of the ball…
