ALL-WDA
Jaxon Kellogg Jaxon Kellogg 6'3" | PG Bismarck Legacy | 2023 State ND (2023) LB Bismarck Legacy
6-4, lost in the State Quarterfinals. In hoops, Jaxon was ALL-WDA last year and put up solid numbers with 11.1 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.6 apg, and 2.2 spg. Kellogg is a 6’3″ athletic and very strong guard. This past spring/summer, Kellogg showed that he can run the point at a high level against great competition in AAU ball. He is an elite competitor that will outwork and out-hustle everyone on the court. When I watched Jaxon play, he was always on the floor, and he is always doing the little things to help his team. Jaxon is also a tough defender. He is likely a top defender in the state. The lefty can score in a variety of ways with jumpers, slash-n-score, and cutting for good looks. Jaxon is also very good in the pick-n-roll game. Legacy is going to be a talented team this year. Look out for the Sabers and Kellogg.
Karsyn Jablonski Karsyn Jablonski 6'2" | SG Mandan | 2023 State ND (2023) WR/DB Mandan
8-3, lost in State Semifinals. Powerade Senior Athlete of the Year & Return Specialist. In basketball, Karsyn is a 6’2 guard. He put up 8.7 ppg and 3.3 rpg last season. Expect Jablonski’s numbers to shoot up this season. Karsyn is an all-around athlete. He does a nice job on the defensive end. Karsyn can create on the offensive side of the ball and he finishes well at the basket.
Tahrye Frank Tahrye Frank 6'0" | SG Mandan | 2023 State ND (2023) WR/LN/SS Mandan
8-3, lost in State Semifinals. He was All-WDA in hoops last year. Frank was a breakout player as a 6’0 athletic guard. Tahrye put up impressive stats in his junior year with 12.8 ppg, 4.2 apg, and 1.9 spg. He made 48 triples and he shot an eye-popping 46.6 3FG%! Frank is obviously a stat stuffer. Mr. Frank is a playmaker on the court and he will have the Braves fighting for a State Tournamnet appearance late in the season.
Devon Church Devon Church 6'1" | SG Mandan | 2023 State ND (2023) WR/S Mandan
8-3, lost in State Semifinals. In hoops, Church is a 6’1″ guard with a good head on his shoulders. He is extremely coachable and he knows how to execute on the hardwood. Look for Church to be a role player for the Braves and to have an expanded role from last year.
Logan Conklin Logan Conklin 6'5" | SF Minot | 2024 ND (2024) WR/DB Minot
6-4, lost in the State Quarterfinals. On the basketball court, Conklin is a 6’5 athletic forward. He helped Minot win the State Championship last year and Logan will likely be an All-WDA player this season. Conklin is a bouncy player that can get up and WHAM with power. He is also a hardworking and tough defender. Logan is a grinder on the boards that will do whatever it takes to get his hands on the ball. Conklin and the Magi are going to be a top team in Class A once again this season.
Isiah St. Romain Isiah St. Romain 6'3" | SG Williston | 2024 ND (2024) WR/DB Williston
2-7, did not make the playoffs. On the hardwood, Isiah was All-WDA last season and he put up splashy numbers with 19 ppg, 8 rpg, 3.3 apg, and 2.5 spg. St. Romain is a special athlete with impressive size, playmaking ability, and bounciness that will get you out of your seat. Isiah is an All-State type player. PHD believes that the Coyotes will be a very competitive team in the WDA. St. Romain and WHS will have a good shot at getting to the State Tournament in March.
Honorable Mention
Cole Jahner Cole Jahner 6'3" | SG Bismarck | 2023 ND (2023) TE/LB Bismarck
0-9, did not make the playoffs. Jahner is a 6’3 hardworking basketball player. Last season, he scored 7 ppg and he grabbed 2.1 rpg. With Teysen Eaglestaff gone to UND, the Demons will need players to step up and fill new roles. Expect Jahner to be one of those players and for his production to increase. Cole does very well in Bismarck’s uptempo style of play. Jahner flies all over the court and he makes plays on both ends of the floor.
Rustin Medenwald Rustin Medenwald 6'2" | SF Mandan | 2024 State ND (2024) WR/CB Mandan
8-3, lost in State Semifinals. He is another quality athlete for the Braves. Rustin is a 6’2″ player that averaged 4.7 ppg and 2.2 rpg last basketball season. Like many other players on this list, expect his production to increase this year. Rustin is a solid athlete that has the potential to be a good defender. He should come into his junior season of hoops full of confidence after a standout football season.
Jacob Goettle Jacob Goettle 6'4" | PF Bismarck St. Mary | 2023 State ND (2024) St. Mary’s
3-6, did not make the playoffs. In hoops, he is a 6’4 forward. The Saints will be a “new look” team with many players gone due to graduation. Goettle is a BIG forward at 6’4 220 lbs. He will provide a post presence to the Saints. Jacob has good footwork, is smart, strong, physical, and is an unselfish teammate. Look for Goettle to be a force and a tough defender for St. Mary’s.
Malaki Sik Malaki Sik 6'3" Williston | 2023 ND (2023) WR/DB Williston
2-7, did not make the playoffs. In basketball, Sik is a productive athlete. Last season, Malaki averaged 12.1 ppg and 4.9 rpg. PHD believes that the Coyotes will be a tough team this winter and that Sik will perform like an All-WDA basketball player. His size and athleticism make him a difficult player to match up with. He can score with a sweet pull-up game and he also can get to the rack for buckets. The Coyotes are a team that you will want to watch early in the season. They are an exciting and athletic team!
