Spencer Barr Spencer Barr 5'11" | PG Aberdeen Central | 2023 State SD is the big name for the Golden Eagles. Barr is as tough as they come, uber-skilled, a sniper, and an overall selfless player. PHD believes that Barr will perform as an All-State player this season. Make sure you take the time to check out Aberdeen Central this season.
See below for some Q&A with coach Norberg and the Golden Eagle schedule.
Q&A with coach Brent Norberg
PHD: How would you sum up last season?
Brent Norberg: “We had to battle through a couple of key injuries and were never able to get consistent. We played well when healthy, but came up 3 points short of the State Tournament.“
PHD: How did the offseason go for your team/program?
Brent Norberg: “We had a great offseason, our kids worked very hard in the weight room and open gyms. We had a lot of kids playing throughout the summer and I thought we showed great improvement from the beginning of the summer to the end. It was one of the most enjoyable summers I have had as a coach.“
PHD: Who are a few of your top players to look out for and why?
Brent Norberg: “ Spencer Barr Spencer Barr 5'11" | PG Aberdeen Central | 2023 State SD is a three-year player for us. He is one of the best guards in the state. His skill level is as good as any kid I have coached. He can shoot from the perimeter and has the skill and strength to finish at the rim. He has committed to playing basketball for Jamestown next year.“
“Carter Dingman is the other returning player that saw significant varsity action last season. He is a good athlete, with unlimited range as a shooter.“
PHD: Who are a couple of up-and-comers to look out for in the near future?
Brent Norberg: “We have a lot of new faces this season, Grant Fritz, Parker Lemer, Ollie Rife, Camden Fauth, and Jett Carlson all played very well for our JV and Sophomore teams last season and will be asked to play a big role this season.“
PHD: What style of basketball will your team play?
Brent Norberg: “We will try to play fast on offense and be disruptive on defense. We lack a lot of size, so we will have to make the game a full-court game in order to have the best chance to compete.“
PHD: In your opinion, who are some of the top teams in your Region and why?
Brent Norberg: “Harrisburg, Brandon Valley, Jefferson, Lincoln, O’Gorman“
