We have a full slate of games this evening featuring some excellent matchups throughout the state. Prep Hoops Indiana will be covering the highly anticipated Top 5 matchup between Fishers and Ben Davis, but there are plenty of other games you will want to follow this evening as well. Let’s take a look at the five best games around the state on Tuesday night.
Ben Davis @ Fishers
It doesn’t get much bigger than two Top 5 teams in Class 4A tipping their seasons off with each other. Unfortunately, after tonight, one of these great teams will be 0-1. Ben Davis enters this season with as high of expectations as anyone in the state. Their roster is loaded with all of the pieces you would need for a potential run at a state championship. Fishers will feature sophomore sensation Jalen Haralson Jalen Haralson 6'7" | PG La Lumiere | 2025 #8 Nation IN along with the debut of junior Keenan Garner Keenan Garner 6'6" | PF Fishers | 2024 State IN who moved in from Germany. A matchup to watch in this one will be Ben Davis senior point guard Sheridan Sharp Sheridan Sharp 6'2" | PG Ben Davis | 2023 State IN going up against Fishers sophomore JonAnthony Hall JonAnthony Hall 6'1" | PG Fishers | 2025 State IN . These two are elite athletes with next-level explosiveness and will be fun to watch go at it on both ends of the floor. The Giants also return 6’9″ Valparaiso commit Zane Doughty Zane Doughty 6'8" | C Ben Davis | 2023 State IN who averaged a double-double last season and will be a force around the basket once again as a senior. Clay Butler Clay Butler 6'1" | PG Ben Davis | 2023 State IN , K.J. Windham K.J. Windham 6'3" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State #137 Nation IN , and Shaun Arnold Shaun Arnold 6'5" | PF Ben Davis | 2023 State IN will likely round out the Ben Davis starting lineup. Meanwhile, look for Marion transfer Taden Metzger to make a big impact for the Tigers tonight.
Fishers High School is absolutely the place to be this evening. Per the Prep Hoops Indiana preseason polls, Ben Davis is #2 in Class 4A while the Tigers check it at #4. Both teams are loaded with talent and future college players. We will be in attendance bringing you updates throughout the game if you are not able to attend.
Fort Wayne North Side @ Cathedral
The defending Class 4A state champions, and preseason #1 team, are back in action tonight as Cathedral plays host to North Side. 6’11” 5-star forward Xavier Booker Xavier Booker 6'11" | PF Cathedral | 2023 State #4 Nation IN , a Michigan State signee, is the man to watch in this one as the #1 player in the country according to Rivals. The Irish also return 6’6″ wing Jake Davis Jake Davis 6'6" | SF Cathedral | 2023 State IN who is committed to Mercer and 6’4″ wing Jaron Tibbs Jaron Tibbs 6'4" | SF Cathedral | 2023 State IN who will play football at Purdue. There still has yet to be official word on the eligibility of Portage transfer Kamari Slaughter Kamari Slaughter 6'2" | SG Cathedral | 2023 State IN , but we will certainly report on that as soon as we can this evening. Look for Cathedral’s sophomore class to step up and take over larger roles this season as well. 6’6″ lefty Brady Koehler Brady Koehler 6'9" | SF Cathedral | 2025 State #199 Nation IN and guards Deric Cannady Deric Cannady 5'11" | PG Cathedral | 2025 State IN and Lebron Gough Lebron Gough 6'1" | PG Cathedral | 2025 State IN will all factor into the Irish rotation.
As for North Side, they have plenty of talent in their own right. Brauntae Johnson Brauntae Johnson 6'2" | PG Fort Wayne North Side | 2024 IN is the primary prospect to watch. One of the top football players in the state, the 6’3″ junior is also and elite player on the hardwood. Johnson averaged 18.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game as a sophomore. Seniors Jordan Green Jordan Green 6'4" | PF Fort Wayne North Side | 2023 State IN and Brashawn Bassett Brashawn Bassett 6'2" | SG Fort Wayne North | 2023 State IN are returning contributors to watch for as well. Two newer names to follow that should make major impacts are Eugene Young Jr. and Jaxson Fugate Jaxson Fugate 6'5" | SF Fort Wayne North Side | 2024 State IN .
Gary 21st Century @ Tindley
Tindley has lost a lot of talent, but freshman phenom Dezhon Hall Dezhon Hall 6'3" | PG Pike | 2026 State IN will be making his Indiana High School Basketball debut this evening. It will be fun watching him go against another super dynamic guard in senior Ashton Williamson Ashton Williamson 6'2" | PG Gary 21st Century | 2023 State #287 Nation IN . Gary 21st Century, who is ranked #4 in the Class 2A preseason poll by Prep Hoops Indiana, also features senior wings D.J. Moss D.J. Moss 6'4" | SF Gary 21st Century | 2023 State IN and Quentin Floyd who have been long-time contributors for the Cougars.
Loogootee @ North Daviess
If you prefer small school basketball, this will be one of the best matchups of the season for you. Class 1A defending state champion North Daviess is now competing in Class 3A, but still enters the season ranked #7 by Prep Hoops Indiana. They will feature Oakland City commit Jaylen Mullen Jaylen Mullen 6'0" | PG North Daviess | 2023 State IN along with twins Lance Wilson Lance Wilson 6'2" | SF North Daviess | 2023 IN and Logan Wilson Logan Wilson 6'3" | SF North Daviess | 2023 IN . Loogootee comes in ranked #2 in Class 1A and will get a crack at their former Sectional 56 foe on opening night. High-score lefty guard Peyton Bledsoe Peyton Bledsoe 6'4" | SF Loogootee | 2023 State IN will lead the Lions as they try to make a statement against their rival. This game last season was won by the Cougars 41-36.
Zionsville @ Carmel
Another Top 10 Class 4A matchup will be happening on the north side this evening if you want something besides Fishers vs. Ben Davis. Preseason #3 ranked Zionsville travels to #7 Carmel in a matchup between Sectional 8 opponents. Indiana Mr. Basketball candidate Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN , a Penn State signee, leads the way for Zionsville along with 6’9″ Charlotte signee Nick Richart Nick Richart 6'9" | PF Zionsville | 2023 State IN . Those two makeup arguably the best inside-outside duo in the state this season. As for the Greyhounds, 6’8″ Belmont pledge Sam Orme Sam Orme 6'9" | SF Carmel | 2023 State #196 Nation IN is ready to take on a go-to role as a senior. He will have solid talent around him as well with seniors Spencer White Spencer White 6'5" | SF Carmel | 2023 State IN and Jared Bonds Jared Bonds 6'5" | PF Carmel | 2023 State IN plus sophomore guard Alex Couto.
