Finley plays the game with a high IQ and is a killer when it comes to the midrange game. Eli is crafty and skilled with a D1 upside. While he’s not going to blow you away with athleticism, Finley is athletic enough to get past defenders and get into the paint where he can score or distribute. Look for another big season for him this year for Calloway.
Maddox is likely the best deep range shooter on this list as he is comfortable shooting well past the college three point line. Huff excels with reads in the pick and roll game and throws accurate passes that limit his turnovers. Long term, Maddox needs to improve his scoring efficiency to reach the D1 level but he has the skills and physical ability to land at that level.
Highlights
Boone is the best athlete on this list and maybe the best pound for pound athlete in the 2025 class. Melo is a scrappy guard who has the physical tools to lock up opposing guards. He plays the game with a chip on his shoulder and often plays his best against other top notch guards. He could be the breakout player in the 11th region this season.
Lawson gets overlooked at times because of the 3 stars in the 2025 class at Western but Josiah is a good prospect in his own right. While he plays more of a combo guard in high school, his true position is at the point and JoJo has shown that he can get downhill against top guards as well as being able to lock up on the defensive end when he needs to.
Reed shares the backcourt and most of the scoring responsibilities with his older brother. Cayden is more of a true point guard in the sense that he is looking to get teammates involved before he’ll force his own offense. While he’s a little undersized, Reed plays bigger than he is and uses his high IQ to be able to guard bigger opponents. He’s one of the top guards in the 10th region.
