Bryce Jackson Bryce Jackson 6'5" | SG Shadow Creek | 2025 TX 2025 6’4 Shadow Creek High School
Bryce was dominant again during his time on the court, showing off his complete two way game and how easily he gets up to flush it on your forehead! He had a NASTY dunk on the fast break after baiting his opponent in the passing lane, and then gave that kid an absolute FACIAL at the rim. (See video below) He easily gets up and over his defender in the lane, but what I have noticed develop the most about his game has to be his willingness to pick his spots, and wait for the right opportunity to open up for him to exploit. His patience with the basketball is allowing the defense to open up and give him an ever bigger driving lane within the half court. He is a knock down shooter off the catch, playing alongside a true point guard ( Michael Collins Michael Collins 6'1" | PG Shadow Creek | 2025 State TX 2025) to set him up. The two sophomore’s have a real connection together, building off of their influential time during Shadow Creek’s deep playoff run as freshmen last year. Jackson can play off of Collins, and watch him manipulate the defense and wait for him to find him for catch and shoot opportunities, or cutting back door. He played with Houston Hoops in the EYBL tournament this summer, and showed off his ability to affect the game as a glue guy, or now as your primary option. Bryce’s versatility will end up being a coveted weapon for him as his recruitment starts to turn up even more than it has already!
Nigel Walls Nigel Walls 6'10" | C St. Francis Episcopal | 2025 State #69 Nation TX 2025 6’10 St Francis Episcopal
Nigel was dominant on the interior, scoring at will and using his length. I watched him battle against other 6’10 big men and also control and bully athletic and strong wings. He showed an ability to play out of the high post, pick apart the defense or take defenders off the bounce and finish in the paint. The ease in which he was able to dominate on both ends of the court stood out, anchoring his team’s defense and protecting the rim very well. I was most impressed with the basketball IQ and passing ability he displayed at his size, calmly affecting the game by making pinpoint passes to set up his teammates. He had multiple jaw dropping passes; behind the backs and no lookers that hit his teammates in stride to set them up. Walls has an elite feel for the game, paired with great athleticism and an incredible frame. College coaches, you need to get on this kid EARLY before it is too late!! He will be a household name real soon…
Ashton Simmons Ashton Simmons 6'3" | PG West Brook | 2024 State #228 Nation TX 2024 6’3 Beaumont West Brook High School
Ashton is the leader of a group of intense players at West Brook, with the ability to jump out of the gym and flush nasty dunks or hang in the air to adjust his shot angle and finish through contact. Simmons is a BEAST in transition, where he gets easy looks by exploding to the rim where no one else can touch him. He has tremendous court awareness and ball skills, allowing him to pick apart defense’s and find open lanes on the fast break. He always has his head up, scanning the floor and looking to push the tempo and the ball up the court. Simmons athleticism is truly on another level, and is a real weapon for him on the football field where he plays both free safety and wide receiver at a very high level as well… His ability to play both ways translates on the court too, sliding over at just the right time to reject shots and chasing down his opponents in transition and smacking their shot off the backboard. Simmons is an elite and effective weapon on both ends of the court, and his intensity and tenacity on the court is not ever matched.
Jaland Lowe Jaland Lowe 6'2" | PG Fort Bend Marshall | 2023 State #124 Nation TX 2023 6′ Fort Bend Marshall High School
Jaland committed in the auditorium of the school in which this tournament was held, announcing his commitment to the University of Pittsburgh! He gave new Pitt fans and Houston basketball fans a real treat this weekend with how easily he controlled the tempo of the game, and how effortless he made scoring at will from all three levels look. He calmly picked apart defenders with his crossovers, creating separation and stepping back on them, or getting them to bite on a head-fake and simply blow by them to finish at the rack. The free flowing nature he plays this game with is intoxicating to watch, both as a defender and a fan! He lulls you to sleep with his tight handle and then quickly rises up in your face to hit timely shots to push the lead out of reach. Lowe has easily been one of the most entertaining prospects I have covered over the last two years specifically. This summer, he put on a SHOW in the EYBL, finding teammates with pinpoint lob passes and created a plethora of highlights for himself and his teammates.
Larry Lyons 2023 6’4 Dawson High School
Larry Lyons
Larry Lyons
Larry was special during his time on the court, fulfilling the role as his team’s primary option scoring and knifing through the defense at will. I am very impressed in the leap that I have seen from Lyons since last year, looking much more fluid with his handle and showing a real ability to create separation off the dribble. He loves getting to the rim and finishes at a high clip through contact and on either side of the rim, showing real expertise as a slasher. He takes pride in finishing on the fast break before the defense can get set or the big has a chance of coming over to contest. He routinely finishes over other guards, making him a dynamic weapon in transition. He made good use of his catch and shoot opportunities this weekend, and Lyon has good shot mechanics and is a very consistent free throw shooter! If he begins to knock down looks from beyond with more consistency, he could make a real impact at the next level with his intense and aggressive play style.
