To take on some of the top competition in the state before you even participate in a practice at your high school takes guts. But these guys put their games on the line and performed well.
Here is a look at some of the 2026s who battled in KC (in alphabetical order):
KaeVon Bonner
KaeVon Bonner
The younger brother of Seaman senior Kaeden Bonner Kaeden Bonner 5’11” | SG Seaman | 2023 State KS , KaeVon fits more of a point-guard profile at this point. He’s not big, but he didn’t back down from the older competition. He’s a good ball handler and has a nice-looking stroke from the perimeter. Thought just 5-foot-10, he’s long armed and handsy on defense.
One of the smallest players at the Expo, Cook was unfazed. He attacked defenses off the dribble and got into the lane to dish to shooters. He showed really good vision and court awareness, and he took command of the team from the point spot. This guy is quick and active and unafraid.
Jordan Jones Jordan Jones 6'0" | PG Colby | 2026 State KS

Probably the most impressive of the freshmen at the Expo, Jones was a playmaker all day long. He showed both aggressiveness and patience when probing defenses off the dribble. He showed he could get to shots in the paint, and he hit some impressive buckets in transition and off the bounce. He also knocked down several 3-pointers.
Ayden McGibboney Ayden McGibboney 6'3" | SF Blue Valley Northwest | 2026 State KS

McGibboney is a physical player who looks older than a ninth grader. He is having a solid football season for Hayden, and that physicality translates on the court too. He is a versatile player at both ends, able to play three or even four positions on the floor. He is a solid ball handler and shooter who can penetrate and score off the bounce. With his size, he is a force on the boards and defends with toughness.
