We have been hitting the road hard over the past few weeks visiting open gyms across the state to begin previewing the upcoming season. I’m out of town this week so while I’m not able to hit in-state open gyms I wanted to begin highlighting some of the top uncommitted senior prospects entering this season. There are still players available for college coaches at any and all levels. Be sure to check out Part One, Part Two, Part Three, and Part Four of this series as well. We have also highlighted six additional point guard prospects still looking for college homes and six additional shooting guards now as well. In this article we will dive deeper into the small forward position.
Darrion Brooks Darrion Brooks 6'5" | SF New Haven | 2023 State IN (New Haven H.S.): Ranked as the #46 prospect in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops Indiana. Haven’t really heard anything about Brooks’ recruitment. The 6’4″-6’5″ wing has a great mid-range game and the size to punish smaller defenders on his way to the basket. Has been a major contributor for New Haven throughout his career. Definitely a guy that can play at the scholarship level. Will be interesting to see where he lands.
D.J. Moss D.J. Moss 6'4" | SF Gary 21st Century | 2023 State IN (Gary 21st Century H.S.): Ranked as the #50 prospect in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops Indiana. Recruitment has been all over the map during the past year. Moss is a physical 6’4″ wing with excellent athleticism. He rebounds from his position at a high level, handles the ball well enough to make plays, and can knock down catch-and-shoot three-pointers. Intriguing prospect at the next level that could fit in well at the NAIA or possibly even Division II level in the right situation.
Peyton Bledsoe Peyton Bledsoe 6'4" | SF Loogootee | 2023 State IN (Loogootee H.S.): Ranked as the #55 prospect in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops Indiana. Currently receiving interest from a variety of different levels. Bledsoe is a 6’4″ left-handed shooter that has put up really big scoring numbers throughout his career at Loogootee. He’s a knockdown three-point threat and will look to lead the Lions to a Class 1A state title this season. Scholarship worthy prospect.
Austin Willoughby Austin Willoughby 6'3" | SF Chca | 2023 State IN (Whiteland H.S.): Ranked as the #86 prospect in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops Indiana. Holds Division III offers from Wabash, Anderson, Franklin, and Manchester. Willoughby is a 6’4″ versatile wing that has the size and athleticism to score around the basket with the skill to play out on the perimeter. Good playmaker with the ball in his hands. Plays very hard. Perfect wing or even small ball 4-man at the DIII level.
Tyson Good Tyson Good 6'6" | SF Lewis Cass | 2023 State IN (Lewis Cass H.S.): Ranked as the #95 prospect in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops Indiana. 6’6″ wing that is capable of stretching the floor out to three-point range. Has been a major varsity contributor since his freshman season at Cass. Good athlete that can attack closeouts and create for himself with straight line drives. Solid Division III prospect.
J.J. Morris J.J. Morris 6'6" | SF Argos | 2023 State IN (Argos H.S.): Ranked as the #96 prospect in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops Indiana. Holds offers from Manchester, Anderson, and Depauw. Versatile 6’6″ wing that can knock down shots from the perimeter, but is at his best using his size and length to attack closeouts and finish around the basket. Good mid-range game. Morris rebounds his position very well too. Makes sense for a lot of the in-state Division III programs to recruit him.
