This yearly event features the best basketball players in the southwestern Indiana and Evansville area and is a great opportunity to evaluate all of that talent under one roof. Earlier this week I highlighted six top performers from Sunday’s action as well as six new names that caught my attention. Now, I will empty out the notebook with a some additional top performers, evaluations, and other notes from the day. Let’s dive on in.
- We already discussed Shane Sims (Evansville Harrison H.S. 2025) and his elite scoring ability in the top performers article. However, he has two classmates in Jay Summit (Evansville Harrison H.S. 2025) and Jesiah Sloss (Evansville Harrison H.S. 2025) who are very intriguing prospects in their own right. Summit is a versatile 6’3″ wing that has playmaking skills with the ball in his hands, rebounds his position very well, and can guard just about every spot on the floor. His athleticism and physical strength really stood out on Sunday. Similarly, Sloss is a. 6’4″ wing/forward that has impressive physical tools. He finished above the rim at the end of his drives a couple of times, displayed great length grabbing rebounds and disrupting the passing lanes defensively, and showed the ability to create his own shot some off of the bounce. Harrison has a really talented core in the sophomore class with these three prospects.
- We’ve gone long enough without mentioning the unreal talent of Jaylen Mitchell Jaylen Mitchell 6'5" | PG IN (Helfrich Park M.S. 2027). Yes, that is right, this kid is still in the 8th grade. Mitchell has incredibly physical tools for a player of his size. When going head-to-head with 4-star forward Trent Sisley Trent Sisley 6'8" | PF Heritage Hills | 2025 State #47 Nation IN (Heritage Hills H.S. 2025) the two elite prospects looked to be the same size both height wise and in terms of muscularity. He is a legitimate 6’6″-6’7″ with excellent strength for his age. Mitchell is very skilled with the ball, handles it like a point guard, and can score it from the perimeter. He already holds an offer from Evansville, but it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him earn a high-major offer before his high school career begins.
- Not many people around the state may even be aware of this, but Tyler Myers Tyler Myers 5'11" | PG Evansville Day | 2023 State IN (Evansville Day School 2023) has already scored over 2000 career points. The strong, left-handed guard is a solid playmaker that can knock down outside shots, but appears to be at his best when attacking the basket where he can use his strength to finish at the rim. Admittedly, this was my first time ever seeing Myers play in person. He’s a very good passer as well for someone typically admired as one of the top scorers in the state. He will be one for people to follow this winter as he climbs the all-time state scoring list.
- Everyone knows about the supreme talent of Trent Sisley Trent Sisley 6'8" | PF Heritage Hills | 2025 State #47 Nation IN (Heritage Hills H.S. 2025) at this point, but the Patriots have an excellent incoming freshman that deserves some statewide attention as well. 6’4″ wing Jake Prior Jake Prior 6'5" | SG Heritage Hills | 2026 State IN (Heritage Hills H.S. 2026) is one of the top freshmen in the state and will make an instant impact for Coach Nate Hawkins. Prior has excellent skill level for his size and age. He creates his own shot off of the dribble, can act as a secondary playmaker with his ball handling and passing ability, and looks to be comfortable in catch-and-shoot situations. Another good young prospect to follow at Heritage Hills.
- One of the top prospects at the Pocket City Fall League that we haven’t mentioned any yet is Isaac Higgs Isaac Higgs 6'2" | PG Evansville Reitz | 2023 State IN (F.J. Reitz H.S. 2023). The 6’3″ guard is a good athlete, attacks the rim very well off of the bounce, and is a very high academic prospect. Higgs scored it at a high level in both games on Sunday showcasing his three-level ability. Higgs holds an offer from Division II Hillsdale and has a bunch of high academic Division III interest. One of the top small college prospects in the Evansville area.
