Here’s a look at part two of some of the top juniors that were in attendance.
Asad Pompey | 6’0” PG | National Christian
Pompey is a name to get familiar with now as he’s going to be one of the top guards in the DMV over the next few years. The 6’0” lead guard has a lot of intangibles you like in a lead guard as he’s tough as nails and plays much bigger than he is in the paint, he can score the ball off the bounce and put pressure on the defense and he competes on both ends of the floor and seems to like big time matchups.
Devin Minor Devin Minor 5'9" | PG National Christian | 2024 VA | 6’0” PG | National Christian
Minor is a very skilled guard who can run the show and makes a lot of players better with his playmaking ability and decision making as well as his energy he brings on both ends of the floor. He is cool, calm and collected with the ball in his hands as he can get to spots on the floor easily to suck the defense in, he sees the floor well and is able to make difficult passes look easy and he can score the ball well from multiple levels with the ball in his hands.
Ty Bevins Ty Bevins 6'5" | SG Gwynn Park | 2024 State #157 Nation MD | 6’6” WF | Gwynn Park
Bevins is a super talented wing who has a lot of tools that help him impact the game across the board, and his ability to play on the basketball at his size makes him a walking mismatch too. At 6’6” he can handle and initiate the offense and sees over the defense to make good passes, he can use his size to get to spots and score it over defenders or get to the rim and finish through contact and he can guard almost every position and rebounds well for his position too.
Machi Chester Machi Chester 6'3" | PG Friendship Collegiate | 2024 State MD | 6’3” WG | Gwynn Park
Chester is a new addition to this already talented Gwynn Park team and he brings a level of toughness and grit to this team that will take them to the next level. He provides an extra scoring punch as he’s very good at working in isolation situations and can create space to score the ball in different ways, he’s a solid secondary ball handler who can break the defense down and make plays for others and he brings it on both ends of the floor and is a good rebounder too.
Kris Johnson Kris Johnson 6'4" | SG Grace Brethren Christian (MD) | 2024 State #288 Nation MD | 6’4” WF | Grace Brethren
Johnson is one of the most underrated players in the DMV in my opinion, as the 6’4” wing is super versatile and is a consistent producer in a number of different ways. He scores the ball efficiently from all three levels and stays in attack mode putting pressure on the defense, he can do it on and off the ball and knows how to work to get open and he brings great energy on both ends of the floor every time he’s on the floor.
Damien Jones Damien Jones 5'10" | PG Grace Brethren | 2024 MD | 5’10” PG | Grace Brethren
Jones is a tough minded guard who sets the tone for Grace Brethren on both ends of the floor and brings a mix of toughness and skillset to the table every time he steps on the floor. At 5’10” he’s a strong guard who can get downhill and create separation using his body, he’s a good athlete who thrives in transition and can stay in front of ball handlers defensively and he picks his spots and scores it well from multiple spots on the floor.
