So instead, I’m opting to break down prospects by area. Here’s a look at the top players in Northern Kentucky and surrounding areas. This list is not meant to be a ranking of best college prospects. More of a list of best overall players in the area.
Meyer led the nation in scoring last season but decided to take a 2 month vacation to the Skills Factory in Atlanta before returning to Holy Cross. Once we update rankings, Jacob should slide right back into the top 3-5 on the list.
Highlights
Headed to WKU for college basketball, Moore is amongst the most valuable players in the state as Owen County would really struggle without him. Teagan is wired to score and has eclipsed the 40 point mark multiple times in his basketball career.
Highlights
EJ has recently seen his recruiting take off as multiple high major schools have pulled the trigger on offering him lately. Walker is a matchup issue for other forwards because of his versatility. He’s also an excellent passer.
One of the first 2023s to commit, Evan is headed to team up with Potter at Miami (OH) next season. Ipsaro is the engine that pushes Covington Catholic and is really underrated as an athlete.
From off the radar to signing D1 in the the last 9 months, Dynes’ best basketball is ahead of him but he keeps getting better right now. If Gabe can stay healthy, he’ll be a nightmare matchup for every opposing team thanks to his elite size and defensive timing.
Brooks has been grossly under-recruited in my opinion as 6’9 kids with the ability to play above the rim or step out and hit threes don’t grow on trees in Kentucky. Caleb is an excellent rim protector and one of the best bigs in Kentucky when his motor is running hot.

The older of the two Reed brothers, Blake is on track to finish his high school career as one of the top 3 scorers in state history. Blake is a volume scorer who plays with a toughness and edge that put him among the most competitive players in NKY.
Highlights
Taylen is a high upside guard from Newport who has some serious swagger to his game. A high IQ point guard with good feel, Kinney has several early offers but as he grows and gets stronger, he could be a potential high major recruit down the line.
Turner has the tools to be a power 5 recruit in the near future but hasn’t figured out how to get his motor going all the time just yet. James has all the things you can’t teach with his length and impressive athleticism. He’s one to monitor for the future.
The younger Reed brother is more of the pure point guard of the two but can also score the ball when he needs to. Cayden is more facilitator than Blake is but either one can go and get a bucket when necessary and are tough for 10th region foes to deal with each night out.
