But we noticed lots of rising point men to highlight.
Here are a few point guards who really stood out in KC:
This new addition to the 2023 rankings might be a big riser this season. With lots of other guards around, he stood out. He’s quick and springy and explosive with the ball. He splits defenders to break down defenses and can get to shots in the midrange. He consistently knocked down threes and also ran to buckets in transition.

Fletcher (pictured) impressed at the Expo as a guard who may make a big step forward this year. He was all over the court with a quick crossover and speed to leave defenders behind. He hit from the perimeter and was disruptive on defense.

Handy is a bulldog, powerfully built and tough. He handles the ball and isn’t afraid to take it in traffic. He knows how to draw defenders and dish to the open man. He showed vision and ability to run and offense. Junction City will be rebuilding a backcourt this year, and Handy could play a role.
Highlights
Lewis is ready to build on a nice sophomore season. He is a clever ballhandler who turns defense into offense in a flash. He showed a knack for getting into the teeth of defenses, then kicking the ball to a shooter. His head is always up, his eyes always open to help a teammate on defense, or to set up a shot on offense. Lewis rebounds and is pesky on defense.
Ross is flat out fast. He uses his quickness and speed up and down the court to create a lot of havoc for opponents. He turned in several steals and had his hands on a lot of balls at KC. He showed he can hit the 3-pointer. If he gets his hands on a defensive rebound, opponents better be in full retreat, because he’s a fast-break machine.
Sherer is tough as nails and doesn’t back down from attacking bigger defenders. He defends with physicality and goes after loose balls. He is a good ball handler, a leader and a winner. He hit the three-ball at the Expo and showed how disruptive he can be on defense.
