8) Danzelle Coles | 6’4” Highland Springs (#29 Overall)
Coles could easily be labeled as a combo or a point guard, especially this year where he’ll likely play on the ball more with Springs graduating their top ball handlers. The 6’4” Coles looks the part with a strong frame that is prototypical of a combo guard, he has great speed in the open floor and a quick first step to get in the lane and make plays, he can knock down shots from deep when he gets it going and he’s a lock down defender on the basketball too.
7) Dominique Bailey Dominique Bailey 6'2" | SG John Marshall | 2024 State VA | 6’3” John Marshall (#28 Overall)
Speaking of defense, when it comes to a lock down wing in VA regardless of class there aren’t many names that should be mentioned before you reach Bailey. He knows his role and not only embraces it but loves it as he will guard the other team’s best player and has great instincts to move his feet and give up his body to draw charges while on the ball, he has improved in his consistency as a catch-and-shoot guy and he can now be trusted as a secondary ball handler and playmaker too.
6) Paul Jones Paul Jones 6'4" | CG Combine Academy | 2024 State NC | 6’2” Churchland (#26 Overall)
Jones has quickly risen to being considered one of the top scoring wings in the 757 and he could have a big season with Churchland the way he played this summer and fall. The 6’2” two guard has somewhat of an unorthodox game as he seems to play at a different cadence than most other players, he gets good elevation on his jumper and can rise up and knock down difficult shots from deep and the midrange and he can get hot quickly and ring off multiple buckets in a row before you even know what hit you.
5) Brandon Jennings Brandon Jennings 6'4" | PG St. Christopher's | 2024 State VA | 6’3” St. Christopher’s (#24 Overall)
Jennings will likely be moved to the point guard list after this year as the more the summer went along the more he played on the ball and that’s where he really became impressive and started catching the eyes of college coaches. At 6’3” he has long arms and is an explosive athlete when he can get downhill and take off, he has excellent feel as he uses his body to keep defenders at bey and create space where he can knock down shots or make plays for others and he has a great IQ and vision to see the way the defense rotates and deliver passes on a dime to open teammates for easy shots.
4) Markus Robinson Markus Robinson 6'2" | SG Veritas | 2024 State VA | 6’3” Veritas (#14 Overall)
Robinson has been playing high school basketball since the 7th grade in Upstate NY and when he came to Veritas this past year he already was in the record books for the amount of points he’s already scored and reached the 3,000 mark this year. It isn’t his athleticism or size that will wow you, it’s Robinson’s intelligence as a scorer that makes him so dangerous. He understands how to use his body when getting in the midrange to create and keep distance to get into his shots, he doesn’t rush or force shots he uses his footwork and angles to get good looks when closely defended and he can score the ball from 15 and out the way that most players score it from five and in.
3) Teyvion Barbour | 6’4” Osbourn (#8 Overall)
Barbour is already on his way to blowing up with a number of division one offers to his name already, but the way he can score the basketball I wouldn’t be surprised for him to be in the conversation as one of the leading scorers in NOVA if not in the state this year. The 6’4” wing has great size and a strong frame and is well conditioned to just outlast defenders, he has in the gym range that’s effortless with perfect form and a quick release and he gets hot so quickly it isn’t uncommon to see him hit four or five three-pointers in a row.
2) Troy McKoy Troy McKoy 6'4" | SG Cushing Academy (MA) | 2024 #200 Nation NLG | 6’4” Massanutten (#3 Overall)
McKoy reclassified to the 2024 class after helping Massanutten to the National Prep semifinals as an underclassman and the way he’s played this fall so far it’s looking like Woodstock will be a must stop spot for high major coaches this season. The Connecticut native is a strong wing who can play through contact or create space to get shots off the dribble, he’s a dead eye shooter from deep who stays shot ready and has deep range, he can create shots on the perimeter off the bounce and he has the ability to make very difficult shots that most players at his position simply couldn’t.
1) Isaiah Abraham Isaiah Abraham 6'7" | SG Paul VI | 2024 State #62 Nation VA | 6’6” Paul VI (#2 Overall)
Abraham almost gets the nod for #1 players in the entire class but we gave the nod to his teammate and fellow wing Darren Harris Darren Harris 6'6" | SF Paul VI | 2024 State #59 Nation VA because of the way he’s played this fall, but don’t be shocked if Abraham jumps to the top when he puts it all together in a consistent fashion. At 6’6” with a strong frame Abraham looks the part from the moment he walks in the gym, he’s a super explosive athlete who is showtime in transition and will catch a body in the half court if you’re late on rotations, he continues to polish his offensive skillset and his ability to score the ball in different ways and he has all the tools to be special on the defensive end as well. It’s all about long term with Abraham, because once it all clicks it’s going to be scary.
