Below is the fourteenth installment in our Transfer Watch 2022 series. In this edition of the Transfer Watch, you will notice that a former standout PCL prospect is returning to Pennsylvania and one of the best Philly Public League players from 2021-22 has transferred to a school in New Jersey.
Chase Coleman Chase Coleman 6'2" | PG Rocktop Academy | 2024 PA – 6’1″ / Junior / Plymouth Whitemarsh / NY Rens / Combo Guard: Coleman played at The Patrick School (NJ) last season and previously was a standout at annual PCL contender Archbishop Carroll. He is a quick backcourt prospect with elusive handles, so he gets to the rack with ease. Additionally, Coleman’s jumper possesses logo range and a quick trigger so he must be picked up at half court. His mid-range skill set is underrated. In short, Coleman is a natural born scoring machine who is headed for a monster year. Holds an offer from Manhattan College.
Nelson Lamizana Nelson Lamizana 6'9" | PF West Chester Henderson | 2024 State PA – 6’3″ / Junior / Bonner & Prendergast / Philly Pride National / Power Forward: In 2021-22 Lamizana played for West Chester Henderson. He was originally transferring to Roman Catholic, but that plan changed, and he is enrolled at Bonner for 2022-23. Last season at Henderson this long, athletic interior prospect posted 11.4 points and 4 rebounds per game. He runs the floor well, finishes fast breaks with authority and scored via the offensive glass. Over the last four months Lamizana’s offensive skills have taken a significant step forward. He unleashed an improved mid-range game, especially the ability to hit 15-to-17-foot jumpers. Plus, he can now use a ball fake and then one or two dribbles to attack the rim.
Deyishon Miller – 6’5” / Post Grad / Quality Academy Prep (NJ) / Philly Pride Select / Small Forward: During the 2021-22 high school season Miller posted 21 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game while leading West Philly to their best season in years (21-6). Then Miller assembled a monster spring/summer circuit. So, 2022-23 should be a huge season for this 200-pound athlete with elite quickness, an impressive vertical, the ability to score off the dribble and high percentage 3-point shooting. Miller can play a point-forward role too, which makes him a unique prospect.
Devon Nelson – 6’0″ / Sophomore / Upper Merion / Gibbs Elite / Combo Guard: The former Pope John Paul II standout grabbed the attention of college coaches at the Philly HS Live events in June and on the July grassroots circuit. Nelson is a transition phenom because he glides up and down the court. His shifty handles enable him to get into the paint for easy buckets or to kick out to open three-point shooters. When Nelson slides to the shooting guard spot, he drains triples from all around the arc. Plus, Nelson can blow by a defender with the dribble drive from the wing or the baseline.
