Grant Rein made his return to the Prep hoops Top 250 Expo after missing his junior season due to injury and he looked like his old self with the way he sprinted to his spots and nailed shots in transition. Rein reminded everyone why he’s known as a knockdown catch and shoot artist, if he was left open with the ball he was sure to scorch the nets with his smooth shot release. Grant Rein is still one of the hottest jump shooters in Texas and is in store for a incredible senior season.
Cam Mennsfield stood out as a true point guard who ran the team as if it was his own, setting teammates up, controlling the tempo, switching up the pace, and displaying next level decision making. Mennsfield’s knack for getting wherever he wanted with his dribble made him sometimes impossible to contain, he broke defenders down off the bounce with his footwork and counter dribblers, showing the an elite ability to get by opposing guards and into the paint or to his hot spots where he continuously drilled jumpers when given space to shoot. On most occasions, Cam was at his best and thrived in open floor situations by utilizing his speed to push the ball up the floor. Impressive aggression, competitiveness, quickness, and toughness is what made him so excellent on the defensive end. Cam was not willing to back down or quit whatsoever, in fact, he fought for the ball whether it was a loose ball or a rebound and made sure to be the first player on the floor after creating a turnover, proving himself to be more than willing to sacrifice his body for betterment of his team.
Jensen Knowles influenced the outcome of games due to his big-time ability to contribute in a number of ways. Offensively, Knowles burned teams with his explosive first step blow by from the perimeter, this kid was capable of getting into the paint and to his spots whenever he pleased. Jensen Knowles showcased terrific athleticism on the ground and tremendous body control mid-air, displaying elite strength and leaping skills that assisted him extremely well when converting tough shots through contact. As a defender, the 6-foot-3 guard wreaked havoc with anticipation. awareness, and understanding of how to disrupt passing lanes to come up with deflections and steals on a consistent basis.
Gur Dhillon was likely the most skilled postman in the building due to his footwork, passing ability, and basketball IQ. The 6-foot-6-inch Dhillon showed very few limitations to game offensively while proving to be an all-around combo forward. He did an exceptional job of playing off of his teammates, making the extra pass, and setting them up for easy layups by drawing the defense in with his back to the basket. This kid really excels at using his size to his advantage when scoring from his spots down low and in the mid-range. Gur Dhillon proved to be a game changer in many ways thanks to his heightened feel for the game, seeing the game as if he was a point guard, Dhillon showed off a guard’s skill set in a big man’s frame, he’s a rare player, the type that can play the pick-and-roll as well as the pick-and-pop as both the ball-handler and screener. One of the most noteworthy aspects of the game Gur Dhillon put on display was three-level scoring prowess which is becoming more and more of a threat whether he has the ball in his hand or not.
