If Sunday was any indicator, Jamari could be in for a huge senior year at Riverside. As one of the top returning players in the Milwaukee City Conference, Jamari has an intriguing blend of length, shot creating ability, and explosiveness around the rim. I was able to catch him in two games as he threw down a handful of impressive dunks showcasing his athleticism off one or two feet. Had one play where he blew by a bad closeout and elevated to throw down over the top of a defender. He’s not just an athlete though as he excelled at creating his own shot on the perimeter, and although he took some tough shots he was still making them consistently. Dangerous isolation scorer who could put up big numbers this winter.
Keegan is one of those players who just makes scoring look effortless. Listed at 6’2 but looks even taller than that, Keegan was able to use his length to his advantage and take smaller guards onto the block for easy buckets. Has a great feel for his man’s positioning on his back and was able to pivot in either direction for high percentage looks. On the perimeter he was knocking down threes at a high percentage off the catch, but could also get into the mid-range at times. Good looking prospect out of Kaukauna.
Avery has the physical attributes and developing skillset to be a solid prospect moving forward. At around 6’4-6’5 he has good size on the wing with a strong frame to handle some contact when he attacks the basket. In his last game of the day Avery spent time guarding a 6’9 big, and wasn’t shying away from contact as he made every possession difficult with his fight for position on the block. Offensively he’s an above-the-rim threat in transition but also has a nice pull-up game that allowed him to hit shots from three and mid-range.
The list of prospects at Wisconsin Lutheran never seems to stop growing, and Logan is one of a handful of 2024 prospects to keep an eye on there. At 6’4-6’5 he’s a long and lanky wing with a versatile skillset allowing him to play in multiple different roles. He spent time handling the ball for his team where he initiated the offense and got his teammates involved. Can create for his teammates via drive and dish passes to open shooters, but can also stop on two feet and create his own shot with crafty footwork in the paint. Really smooth jumper from three as well. Logan just never seemed to get sped up and was making smart reads with the ball all game long. Defensively he has the look of someone who can defend a variety of spots as he moves his feet well and has long arms that allow him to create turnovers.
Not many players are more physically dominant in the state than Brogan is. He stands around 6’5 with a strong and explosive frame that make him tough to stop when he gets into the paint. Even if an extra defender stepped in, Brogan had the strength to power right through them to score at the basket. Whether it was sprinting ahead in transition or attacking from the wing, Brogan found ways to get to the rim constantly for lay-ups and dunks. Showed he can stretch the floor as well, knocking down three triples in the game I saw.
Highlights
EJ is a hard working wing willing to play in whatever role his coach asks of him. He has a long frame with solid athleticism which allows him to make plays attacking the basket. Holt crashed the glass hard on both ends of the floor, hustled in transition to pick up some easy buckets, and showed he can get to the rim with straight line drives as well. EJ is a scrappy defender who can guard bigger wings or smaller guards with how well he moves his feet.
Cody has solidified himself as one of the top scorers in Wisconsin, as well as one of the top wing prospects in the state’s 2024 class. Spent a lot of his time finding ways to get to the rim, and once there he has good patience to get defenders in the air with a shot fake and then finish off of two feet. Threw down a pair of transition dunks and also showed he can create a bit by getting to the lane and kicking it out to his open shooters for a few easy looks. Cody has solid positional size and good footwork/body control when he gets into the paint. Schmitz also has a smooth release on his shot allowing him to score at all three levels.
