Ranked for years with @PrepHoopsTN, Devaki Garr Devaki Garr 6’0″ | PG Ensworth | 2023 State TN ‘s basketball reputation endures more fluctuations than most. At the 15u level, he was an elite outside shooter, but he did not look like a point guard. Playing with EAB 15u at the time, Garr primarily served as a gunner. Think J.R. Smith or D.J. Augustin. Devaki’s game was phenomenal at the 15u level, but college programs are rarely clamoring for 6’0″-ish shooters. This knocked him down a little bit during his sophomore season, from around Top 20 to Top 40. Where Garr once looked like an unguardable, quick-triggered shooter, in 2021 he showed more than occasional poor shot selection. This dinged him a little bit more. Think Top 50 in the Class of 2023.
This month Devaki proved all of my worries misguided, or at least moot. The senior is unequivocally a point guard now. His court vision is among the best in Tennessee. Unlike the style emblematic of his youth, now Garr makes every one of his teammates better. He sees angles and player movement on another level than other guards. The outside shooting is no longer his most marketable skill. His game is well-rounded. His skillful shooting still shines, but now he is not only capable of doing more, he is wise enough to decide to do much more. The efficiency, once his most glaring weakness, is undeniably a thing of the past. Great basketball maturation by Devaki and his ranking up to Top 35 again reflects that growth.
Plays wonderfully at a high tempo. Typically, the ability to play effectively at multiple speeds shows up later for young, explosive guards and Tyler will get there, but for now he is dynamic and creative with speed. He plays fast with the basketball on a yo-yo. Good court vision and a willingness to pass.
Jackson played wonderful in early September at Bartlett High School. His outside shooting at 6-foot-7 projects deeply into the future. The promising player’s agility is much better than expected. He looks like a future combo forward and again that outside shooting is ideal for the modern game.

Wonderful on-ball defense. Marshall checked a top wing scorer in Anthony Medlock Anthony Medlock 6’5″ | SG Germantown | 2023 State TN quite effectively. Medlock did get through the spider’s web a couple of times, but Ashley pridefully and capably handled the assignment.
