Huge upside and huge potential for one of the most impressive big men at Ron Massey Memorial. Nwuli makes his presence felt by altering shots on the defensive end and anchoring the paint. The 6’8″ sophomore is very explosive and does a great job timing and snagging boards. His defensive potential is through the roof as several times he was switched on to smaller guards and he did a great job moving laterally and contesting. As of right now he does most of his damage on offense on putbacks and shots close to the paint but the potential is there to be even greater as he looks like he has the potential to add a long range jumpshot. High major potential for Nwuli.
Highlights
McBride was the most consistent big man of the tournament. His motor and energy is relentless. Every single time a shot goes up, you can expect McBride to box out, hit the boards, and go for every loose ball. Coaches have got to love his fundamentals and IQ. McBride runs the floor well and does a great job of using his body and size to finish in the paint and at the rim. His footwork and IQ was on display as several times he backed his man to the paint and was patient with head fakes to get easy scoop shots around the rim. An understated part of his game is his ability to make post entry passes. Playing next to heralded big man Devin Williams Devin Williams 6’10” | PF Corona Centennial | 2023 State #86 Nation CA-S , McBride does a good job making passes from both outside and on top the key to feed Williams for easy bucks. McBride is currently committed to Loyola Marymount.
With Robert Hinton Robert Hinton 6’4″ | CG Harvard-Westlake | 2024 State #147 Nation CA-S and Dusty Stromer Dusty Stromer 6’5″ | SG Notre Dame | 2023 State #47 Nation CA-S unavailable, Huggins became the high point man for the Harvard Westlake Wolverines. Huggins has length, skill, and mobility. The 6’9 big man runs the floor well and gets from rim to rim. He plays his role well and plays with a high IQ and fundamentals. Huggins set good screens and ran straight to the rim. Finished with 22 points to lead his team who was missing their top 2 scorers. Huggins is committed to Princeton.
Another productive blue collar big man. The 6’8″ Montana commit plays hard and with energy. Davidson shows a lot of promise as an inside-outside big. Can step out and hit from the perimeter, and also knows how to use his body to score inside when he has position. Finished with 15 pts in the first game to put away Rancho Christian. Did a great job hustling for rebounds, plays his role in Coach McKnight’s offense very well. High motor and relentless energy.
Strong big man with the potential to operate both inside and outside. As of right now, Edmonds does the majority of his damage on the block and inside. He hit a couple of jumpers that had good rotation and showed the potential to hit from three point range. On defense, he does a great job of using his size and strength to prevent opposing bigs from backing him down, and also does a good job help side to alter shots. On a opposing fast break, Edmonds had a chase down block that sent a shot flying off the backboard. Love the potential and upside for Edmonds.
