The future Montana Grizzlies point guard is a cat-quick guard who can score from all three levels in bunches as well as get others involved at a high clip. He should have a huge senior season for a Hoover team that will open the year ranked #1 in Class 3A by us.
First Team
2023 Chase Henderson Chase Henderson 6'0" | PG Hoover | 2023 State IA (Hoover): 22.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.7 steals, 87.0 FT%
A big-time three-level scorer who uses his quickness to blow by defenders and get to the bucket at will, Henderson is coming off an excellent summer with Nebraska Supreme in which he scored efficiently, protected the ball, and was a great distributor.
2023 Lucas Lueth Lucas Lueth 6'6" | SF Ames | 2023 State IA (Ames): 7.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.6 blocks, 47.1 FG%
Lueth may not have the big scoring numbers that the rest of the first-team members have, but he’s arguably the best defensive player in the state and he should become the focal point of the Cyclones attack this year following a number of major losses to graduation. A long and athletic 6-7 wing defender, he provides a ton of value on both ends of the floor as a shooter and versatile defender.
2023 Elijah Vos Elijah Vos 6'4" | SF Hoover | 2023 State IA (Hoover): 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 37.0 3P%, 81.5 FT%
The Robin to Henderson’s Batman, Vos is a versatile three-level scorer who isn’t afraid to take smaller defenders down onto the block for buckets. He has a smooth stroke from deep and contributes well on the glass.
2024 Trovary Cavil Trovary Cavil 5'11" | PG Johnston | 2024 State IA (Lincoln): 17.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.5 steals, 77.8 FT%
Cavil has been one of the top scoring guards in the CIML during his first two high school seasons, and he’ll continue that dominant play in the Iowa Alliance. A shifty guard with excellent handles, he’s armed with a deadly mid-range game and has become a more efficient scorer over the last 12 months.
2023 Kewone Jones Kewone Jones 6'2" | SF Waterloo East | 2023 State IA (Waterloo East): 17.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 steals, 51.6 FG%, 37.4 3P%, 78.6 FT%
A big, physical wing, Jones enjoyed a breakout junior year for the Trojans, pouring in over 17 points a game with impressive 52-37-79 shooting splits. He has a quick release off the catch and has really improved his ability to create his own looks.
