Team Xialin Lenoir Xialin Lenoir 5'11" | PG Lavergne | 2024 State TN (#3) vs. Team Jordan Frison (#2)
Jordan Frison threw a beautifully simple lob off the backboard to a trailing Jackson Ary. Frison’s pass appeared casual, but that is one of his feigns. Frison shifts from fast to slow to fast at an elite level. Frison hit two three-pointers in the opening half, both off of his dribble. His court awareness is unmatched statewide. This is a young man coming off a monumental period of improvement, proving he is perhaps on the cusp of another.
Brody Burchard Brody Burchard 6'5" | SF Oakland | 2023 State TN (Oakland) — Good lower body. Balance is impressive at his height and age. Incredibly unselfish. Made a couple of extra passes. Played with Frison effectively in the pick’n’roll.
Jackson Ary is comfortable on the low block. He caught a lob feed with his back to the basket. A teammate sharply cut through the lane, and Jackson quickly identified the play’s potential and dropped off the perfect lead pass.
Joshua Spining Joshua Spining 6'3" | SG Page | 2025 State TN (Page High) — Always alert. Made sharp, destructive cuts away from the basketball. Finished in the lane with a grace borne out of experience.
Issac Power Issac Power 6'2" | PG Page | 2025 State TN delivered an incredible two-handed overhead 30′ bounce pass, which caught his teammate in stride for a beautiful layup. The execution pitted the pass up against any for a mythical Pass of the Day honor.
Team Javar Daniel (#5) vs. Team Jordan Frison/Ary (#2)
Early in the game, Jordan Frison sliced through the morass. Picked out the right guy. Frison was fantastic all day. Unsurprisingly.
Team #5 was dominated by two senior stars ( Tyler Johnson Tyler Johnson 6'5" | SG Douglass | 2023 State TN , Javar Daniel), but another weapon, Tacarien Freeman, proved potent. Tacarien Freeman makes it all happen. Needs to become a little better about leading his men into their layups. Spotting the open man is one thing. Spotting the open space where that man can thrive is another. His basketball I.Q. is good, not yet elite. It feels inevitable that he will be a top-tier point guard in Tennessee by the end of the season, just his sophomore season.
Javar Daniel and Johnson made a formidable pair, and the entire support team brought effort and skills to the fray. Entering the final game of the afternoon, Team 5 was undefeated even though nobody formally kept a running tally of results after the games wrapped. Thanks to Frison, Team #2 pushed the favorites to the brink. Frison just could not be deterred from getting to the rim.
Giovanni Harris finished an acrobatic layup over the outstretched arms of Daniel. Javar Daniel blocked around five shots in the game, one comedically, but Harris averted the swatting arm with a “show-and-scoop” layup in the second half.
